Tonight at 7:30 the Tampa Bay Buccaneers travel down the road to take on the Miami Dolphins to open up the preseason.  For football gambling fans, it marks the beginning of the time of year where some extra money is put to the entertaining use of betting on football games.  For those hard core football gambling fans who are itching to get their wagering fix on, then the preseason, even though highly unpredictable, is the perfect opportunity to get some early action.

The initial line on the game is Miami as the favorites at -3 and a total of 33 points for the game.  Obviously for phins news fans they would like to see the Miami Dolphins win by more than 3 points, and more importantly see the young inexperienced players show some flashes of brilliance.  It will be very interesting to see what rookies like Ryan Tannehill, Jonathan Martin, Lamar Miller, and Olivier Vernon will be able to produce in their first on field competitive game wearing the aqua and orange.  It will also be intriguing to see when RT’s number is going to be called into duty.  Will he be the second QB put in the game or will he be 3rd?  If he is truly being considered for the starting role, then it would at least be valuable to see him on the field with second stringers, so phins news fans can get a better gauge of his in game ability.

For those football gambling fans looking to make a wager on the game, I would suggest picking the Miami Dolphins laying the 3 points and also picking the game total to go under 33.  The reason why I like the Dolphins in the game is because they are a deeper team then the Bucs. In preseason the quality of depth of a football team is what counts the most, because the back ups are the players that are going to get the most playing time.  Also even though the Dolphins do not have a top 10 QB, they do have 3 quality QB’s on the team, so the drop off once the starter is replaced is not as significant compared to a team like the Bucs.  In addition since this is the first preseason game for both teams, the offenses of each team will not be as sharp as the defensive units, so scoring will be limited.
