Dolphins showing interest in Beasley
This weekend the NFL is having their annual draft combine, and one player that Miami has been showing a lot of interest in is Vic Beasley the outside linebacker from Clemson. Not only is Miami intrigued by Beasley, but Beasley is intrigued by the Dolphins because they run a mix of a 3-4 and 4-3 defense.
Before Miami drafted James in the first round last year, James had petitioned Hickey to select him because he desperately wanted to play for the Dolphins, and the best pay per head reviews will say that so far that marriage has been working out very well. Having players that really want to be drafted and play for your team is never a bad thing, and Miami may decide to take another chance on a quality player at a position of need that wants to play for the Dolphins.
Beasley has been a beast for Clemson over his college career. Last year he had 12 sacks, 33 tackles, 21.5 tackles for a loss, 3 passes defended, and 3 forced fumbles. In 2013 he had 13 sacks, 41 tackles, 23 tackles for a loss, 6 passes defended, 4 forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery for a touchdown. Beasley has displayed consistency throughout his college career and displays a talent at getting to the QB and getting in the backfield of opposing teams. He is a playmaking linebacker, which is something that Miami does not have at the moment.
Beasley would automatically upgrade the Dolphins line-backing group overnight. Some mock drafts have Beasley going as early as the 8th pick to the Atlanta Falcons, or as late as the beginning of the second round. This means that if the Dolphins draft him, they will probably have to pull the trigger in the first round because he will probably not be there for them when they are on the clock in the second round. If he is still on the board at the number 14th position then the Phins will have to strongly consider him because he knows how to make impact plays, and this is not something that every player can be taught, it sometimes is more of an instinct thing, and Beasley has shown over the course of his college career than he has that special intangible.
What does Phins news fans think about the Dolphins using their first-round pick on Vic Beasley?
Dion Jordan wont bring a 2nd rounder in a trade. He has BUST written across his forehead regardless of where they play him, DE, OLB.
Fins need help up the middle, not on the perimeter which is why I dont like this pick at #14.
DT, MLB, CB, are high priorities on D.
I agree. This is not going to be the pick, I believe Jimmy is speaking hypothetically.
Going to be a D Tackle or a WR. I am hoping for one of the top 4 WRs.
Maybe Chip Kelly will be willing to trade a 2nd rounder for a player who is basically a coverage linebacker.
Myself, I’d hold onto Jordan but only if he is moved to LB where he belongs. He’s been misused, injured, and suspended. I’d give him one more year only.
Jordan has flashed some talent, and I agree the coaches need to just make the move to outside linebacker and stick with it. He has tremendous athletic ability, just needs the proper coaching and guidance
My only concern is if we draft Beasley this coaching staff would make him a defensive end!
I like your idea of trading Jordan for a second round pick if we get Beasley
Then try to trade both second round picks for another first and we could end up with two first rounders thus assuring ourselfs of two starters
Maybe get a corner with the other pick and a RB in the third round
Gotta cut a few players too
Start with wheeler and ellerby after the draft in June so we do t take a cap hit
It would be great if we could somehow pull off a Jordan trade for a second round pick and end up with 2 first round picks and get Beasley and possibly one of the top 4 WRs or one of top 3 CBs. That is a fantasy scenario. Boy that would be nice!!!
Just a reminder folks why Dolphins must be careful moving up to get a player.

Steve, when Ireland moved up to get Jordan I was livid. First, a team with so many holes needs more draft picks not less. 2nd, I read some very concerning scouting reports on Jordan before the draft that marked him as boom or bust. And the boom did not happen.
True! However; you have to remember that Ireland went crazy in free agency and then traded up. All his chips were in, and he lost. Miami lost!!!
Don’t think you can go wrong with Beasley both on and off the field. He is a beast, 35 reps at the combine (225 bench), that is lineman type numbers and then some. He ran a 4.53, that’s not lineman type numbers. If they take him @ 14, I would think they would look to move D.Jordan for a second round pick.
For me though, Truly believe Miami needs to take one of the top 3 WRs If available, and I actually believe they should take the 4th rated wideout in Green-Beckham if the other 3 are gone. Watching those 4 wideouts at the combine only confirmed this theory. All 4 are going to be game changers (good chance Beasley will be also), and would be perfect compliments to Tanny and Laundry for a decade+.
Beasley will most likely be gone @ 14
I really like the idea of getting one of the top for WR in the draft, because pairing anyone of them with Landry and Tannehill would be a terrific combination for many years
I believe that he would be a good fit but so would the hurricanes linebacker can’t remember his nam right off hand but he would fit if the stats are equal or better
Perryman is his name
