Last year Hickey showed that he was not afraid to draft players from smaller, lesser-known programs. He ended up using 5 of his 8 2014 draft picks on players from small schools and even signed more of these types of players as undrafted free-agents. This year at the combine there was only one player among more than 300 invitees that was from a Division III program. That player was 6’4” 307-pound offensive lineman Ali Marpet from Hobart College.
Marpet was also the only Division III player to be invited to the Senior Bowl, where he held his own and impressed scouts. In Indianapolis at the Combine, he bench pressed 225 pounds 30 times, which tied him for fifth-best among 40 offensive lineman. Then in the 40-yard dash, he posted a time of 4.98 seconds with a 10 yard split of 1.74 seconds, which were both the fastest times of all the offensive lineman present. These types of impressive performances are clearly helping Marpet to catch the eyes of NFL scouts.
Phins news fans has been also excited by Marpet and with Hickey’s recent history of selecting small school players, they may actually get their wish in drafting him. In 2014 he was a first-team All-American and three-time first-team All-Liberty League selection and also shared the 2014 Liberty League Offensive Player of the Year award, which was the first time an offensive lineman received that honor. Why dont you find a hidden gem from the SEC or the U?
I live 15 minutes from Hobart College, and have seen this guy play several times. Consistency, consistency is the name of his game. Now, grant it, it was against division III competition, a far cry from the division competition or any SEC school, etc. Marpet did finish in the top 5 of every combine drill for all offensive lineman. League personal see Marpet moving inside to guard or center. Not sure if he will be Miami’s pick him in the third (thats where I see him going). but, if he slides to the forth they should consider it. It may take him a year (tops) to get adjusted to the speed and power of the NFL, but I believe he is a can’t miss once he catches up. Marpet has the speed/power/athleticism to be a very good guard, especially in Miami’s zone blocking scheme.

Unfortunately we all know we need at least one guard from this draft
We shod not wait longer than the 4 th round to get one that can start immediately
Again it all depends on the free agents we sign
If we get our guard in free agency then we might not pick one till the 5 th round or maybe 6th rd a higher rTed player that we need is still on the board for example a running back or safety
