Dolphins moving with Conviction this Offseason: Why they should pass on Ridley
The Dolphins continue to show their desire to leave no stone unturned by just completing a visit with New England Patriots running back Stevan Ridley. Regardless if Miami offers Ridley a deal or not, it shows that the phins are willing to look into any player and see if they fit their system. What is also impressive is that Miami is not just signing every player that they invite for a visit, such as Crabtree. This shows that they know exactly what they are looking for and if the player does not fit what they are looking for than they will just keep looking until they find someone that will.
Ridley only played in 6 games last year, because he sustained a ACL injury, so clearly there is a risk that he may not fully heal in time for the upcoming season. However when healthy he has been a solid rotational back and was even able to rush for 1,263 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2012. He also has low mileage on him having only 649 carries in 4 seasons, so if he can recover from his knee injury he should still have plenty left in the tank. The one thing besides the injury that turns me off about Ridley is that he has had a case of the fumbleitis in his career with 9 career fumbles. Besides that he is a well rounded running back that would be a good compliment to Miller. Lastly if the Dolphins do sign Ridley, then they will be making the Patriots a touch weaker, which is also an encouraging thing.
Personally I would pass on Ridley, between the fumbles and the injury I would much rather either look for a young running back in the draft or even take another shot on Moreno and re-sign him to a one year incentive laced deal. Running backs are a dime a dozen so most football gambling fans would say it would be smarter to sign a healthy running back instead of a banged up one.
The positive thing though is Miami is showing that they are serious about trying to make their team better, and they have a plan in place. They are open to finding players in free-agency and they are also open to making trades, which is a lot better than a mediocre team that is standing pat and just trying to move further with the players they have. It is nice to finally see this organization have a plan and a strategy, now the next thing is for the coaches and players to execute it on the field and in the win column.
My question! Base on this article about the our new General Manager: With utmost respect 1. Does he believe in the NFL Draft? 2. Why are we ranked 30th in trading? 3. Where are our draft pick for these Trades? 4. Why does New England continue to draft better than the Dolphins at last picks in the draft?

The Jets rank 28th overall after sending away their fifth and sixth round picks for receivers Brandon Marshall and Percy Harvin, while receiving no compensatory picks in return.
The Dolphins rank 30th after trading their third round pick for receiver Kenny Still, as well as their seventh round pick for tackle Bryant McKinnie back in 2013. Miami also received zero compensatory picks.
The Bills rank 32nd, dead last, after trading their first and fourth round picks for receiver Sammy Watkins in the 2014 Draft. Buffalo received zero compensatory picks.
That’s a whole lot of wide receivers to bring into the division, especially when the quarterbacks throwing the ball are so questionable.
On the other end of the spectrum, the Patriots rank 4th, just a nudge behind the Ravens (who have higher draft picks across the board) and the two teams who have multiple first round picks (Saints and Browns). New England received high marks for their third round compensatory pick, as well as for grabbing the Buccaneers’ fourth round pick in the Logan Mankins trade.
The Patriots have done a fine job setting themselves up for more compensatory picks next season as the contract structures of Darrelle Revis, Brandon Browner, and Vince Wilfork allowed the Patriots to decline their options for the upcoming seasons, while putting them in play as free agents for the 2016 compensatory pick calculus.
New England has managed to stay ahead of their divisional competition for the past fifteen years due to smarter personnel decisions and team management. Based on how free agency has played out and how this upcoming draft looks, things still haven’t changed.
With our 3rd or fourth round pick , get a offensive lineman, comm”on their are plenty of great men waiting to be developed into blockers. If any defensive line men are available then take one of them. Crabtree and the other wide receiver from Minnesota can be taken after the draft. Remember run blocker”s tight ends are what we need for a running game and time for Tannehill to throw-long. Every great team has a running game!! This will keep our defense off the field and well rested for the end of the game.( Ball control!!!!) think of the possibilities!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We CANNOT LOSE MARENO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is the best running back we have, nothing against Lamar. The coaching staff must realize that we need a running game just like we had with our Supper Bowl Champions!!! We need Todd Gurley A tight-end , Corner, I.E. safety. When was our last number one draft choice for a running back!!!! If we choose to pass on Todd Gurley, then choose Ronald Darby from Florida State (C) or Jordan Williams. Plenty of wide outs available. Our second choice should be a tight- end if Maxx Williams is available in the 2nd or third round take him or Buckley Brook from (USC). Maxx would give us another blocker for our offense, this will add to pass protection and a additional blocker for our running game. Suggestion; use Lamar for a full-back! then you have N.M. /w Todd Gurley for our running game.
If we are considering offering a deal to a veteran RB coming off of an injury, my choice would either be Knowshon Moreno or Steven Jackson. When healthy, both are effective weapons. Jackson can be a beast.

I am thinking Miami drafts a Guard in the second round

I’d pass on Ridley too. If he fumbles that much with deflated footballs, imagine how much he’d fumble with properly inflated ones!

I agree 100% I would definitely prefer Moreno or Jackson over Ridley
