A wave of news hits as Phins are about to bounce back hard vs. the Giants
Two weeks ago the Miami Dolphins destroyed the Denver Broncos at home and then proceeded to get destroyed by the Buffalo Bills last week. Talk about polar opposite performances! Now, the Phins look to bounce back against the New York Giants at Home with a wave of news hitting the team. The most obvious in all of this is that the Dolphins will beat the Giants and likely in grand fashion. New York is terrible and has real problems ranging from coaching to the players. Miami will destroy them unless an implosion of biblical proportions happens. But, the news that hit Maimi at the tail-end of the week is the more interesting and unclear part of the story.
Win over the Gints’ is very, very likely, But…
The New York Giants are 31st in total offense, 30th in passing offense, and 22nd in rushing. On defense, they are a tad better at 19th in yards allowed, 15th in passing yards allowed, and 25th in rush yards allowed. Conversely, the Dolphins are the complete opposite on offense ranking 1st in total yards and 1st in both passing and rushing offense. On defense, they are lagging far behind on offense ranking 26th in yards allowed, 26th in passing yards, and 21st in rush yards allowed.
Still, this is a game where the Giants’ terrible offensive line will be missing 3 starters and the Miami #1 offense in all major categories should blow this New York team that will be melting in the South Florida sun. The best pay-per-head sees the Dolphins as a massive 12.5 points favorite over the Giants, so really only a complete could make this a game.
Yes, anything can happen in the NFL, but I can’t see any situation that has Miami losing.
The trade for Claypool & Terron on IR
Terron Armstead is the best offensive tackle on the team and he’s been put on IR, so he’ll miss the next 4 weeks at least. The good news is they have the Giants, Panthers, and Patriots over those four weeks, teams that Miami can beat without him. The Philadelphia Eagles though are a big concern for Tua’s health, the return of Connor Williams will be huge. How long will Terron be gone? Will he be back in 5 weeks or will it be longer? And how long will he be back for? This is a huge question because the Dolphins need a quality offensive line to reach deep into the playoffs. This question won’t be answered for a while… But, it’s a big one.
Miami is an offensive-driven team, so this hurts, and maybe this is partly why the Phins made the move for Chase Claypool to keep their offensive mojo with Terron, Cracraft, and Ezukanma on IR.
Without a doubt, the Dolphins trade for Claypool is a winner. Not because he’s certain to have a huge impact on the offense, but because he could and it was a dirt cheap roll of the dice for the chance. The kid is 6’4” 230lbs and runs a 4.42 forty time! How can you not make the trade for what will end up being a move back into the 7th Round from the 6th Round maybe 20 spots? The price tag is “only” two million as well, which is a ton of money for a regular guy, but it’s chump change in the NFL. Given what we are seeing on defense, the Phins need to maximize their production on offense. I’d of rather had a trade for an offensive lineman or linebacker, but no one at those positions was available, especially for that cheap.
So, let’s see what this kid can do.

Either way, the Dolphins WILL beat the Giants. Yeah, that was an ugly loss last week, but 4-1 is a pretty darn good record for a team still finding its way.
