Never Fear Action Favors Fins

The Dolphins are finally going to have their first home game of the season this year when they face the Buffalo Bills at 4:25 pm this Sunday. It may only be the third game of the season, but it is already a very important game. The winner goes to 2-1 and the loser goes to 1-2. Going 1-2 is not season-ending, but it does create a very big hole that Miami would need to dig out of if they seriously are going to be in the playoff hunt this season.

During Coach Philbin‘s tenure in Miami, the Buffalo Bills have been a very tough matchup for the Dolphins. Bill’s strengths match up very well against the Dolphins’ weaknesses. The Bills are a very good running football team, and Miami has not been able to stop the run. The Bills have a high octane pass rush, and the Dolphins have a shaky offensive line. (Now it will even be more unstable because Branden Albert is doubtful for Sunday’s game.) This game will be won or lost in the trenches, and if Miami’s two trench units can not play better than they are not going to be able to win this game.

Miami is coming off a devastating loss last week to the Jacksonville Jaguars, a team that has been the league’s whipping boy for the last 7 years. Not only are Miami Dolphins down on the ‘Phins, but the rest of the Nation has big doubts about them as well. However, every Sunday is a new game, with a fresh slate and a chance to make a statement. The Dolphins will have an extra advantage this Sunday because anytime a team has a home opener there is just a bit more excitement and energy in the crowd and on the field.

The best sportsbook site in the world opened up the line with Miami as the home town -3 point favorite. The line has held steady for most of the week, with only some of the best sportsbook software moving the line down to -2.5 and than back up to -3. As a result of the Dolphins, an embarrassing loss to the Jaguars the public is not very high on the ‘Phins. In addition, the Bills have beaten the Colts and played tough against the Super Bowl Champion Patriots, so the public is very heavily one-sided on the Bills.

At the moment, the best sportsbooks in the world have over 80% of the action coming in on the Bills. When the action is predominately coming in on one side, that side usually does not cover. (Case in point last week when everyone was on the Dolphins, and the Jaguars covered and won the game.) In addition, when the public is so heavily sided with the underdog, then it usually means that there aren’t enough points given to the underdogs. As a result, the favorite more times than not, wins and covers. I think that the Dolphins will finally come out and play like all of the Miami Dolphins News fans believed they were going to play this season. My money is on the Miami Dolphins winning this game and winning by a touchdown.

May I please state that many Fans prior and after the NFL Draft were quite happy of drafting a wide receiver with the first pick. I could not understand why we did not trade that 1st pick for more picks. Draft two quality linemen plus still get a quality receiver etc.

Honestly: Brian Billup the Former Raven Coach want’s to Coach the Dolphins. He has a
(Super Bowl win; will have top defense).

    We need a proven Coach!

Are you kidding me? Last week against the Jag’s Tannehill was the leading rusher at 17 yards?

Steve I think if 17 yards is the best this team and staff can do, then we don’t have a pro unit. Now Jags are tough up front, just as the Bills are, but it’s important to understand 150 yrds rushing isn’t the recipe that needs be prescribed. Simply keeping the rushing game in the plan is essential. Actually statistically number of rushes per game has more to do with victory than yards – yards are sweet honey dont get me wrong. But a good staff creates room even for a weak rushing attack…it must. Now in my opinion this might be more staff than talent setting up schemes and down and distance oppertunity…that’s part of a running game, especilly for a team with a weak attack.

    Jimmy,

As I stated earlier, the Dolphins need an up tempo offense. They need to make Buffalo go side line to side line in the heat and humidity of South Florida! Lazor needs to have Tannehill roll out and throw on the run, screens to the RB’s, quick short passes to our talented WR’s with YAC yardage, double TE sets to help out on the O-Line, etc. Buffalo will be wearing their dark blue uniforms, and the on field temperatures will be over 100 degrees or close! We need to run MORE plays to wear out and take the gas out of Buffalo’s Defense. The talent is there, and now we will see what this team is made of! 1-2 is not devastating, but it would be a telling sign that the Dolphins will have their work cut out for them making the playoffs because I believe then that the team will struggle very much against their AFC East foes.
