Another Must Win Game
The Dolphins are finally coming back to Miami for a home game – something they have not done since October 25th ,which was almost a month ago. They are taking on a Dallas Cowboy team that has lost 7 straight games, however, that was without star QB Tony Romo, who unluckily for Miami, will be back on the field this upcoming Sunday.
The line for this game opened as a pick-em. Throughout the week, the action has predominantly been wagered on the Cowboys with just over 80% of the action coming in on the Cowboys. As a result, some of the best sportsbooks in the world have moved the line to -1 for the Cowboys. It will be worth noting where the line on game day closes today. Regardless, it should be a pretty tight game that could ultimately come down to possibly the final possession.
The game plan for the Dolphins is simple commit to the run game, and get Miller, Ajayi and even Tannehill involved early and often on the ground, then Miami will be able to move up and down the field at will, and be able to control the clock and keep Tony Romo off the field. When the Dolphins started taking advantage of Ryan Tannehill’s athleticism and legs last season, he was very productive on the ground. The Dolphins have barely even tried to get Tannehill involved in the running game, however, it is never to late, and now is as good a time as any to get him more involved. It is no surprise that even Tannehill vocally said that he would like to run the ball more. The Dolphins would be wise to give at least 20 carries to Miller, 10 carries to Ajayi and 3 carries to Tannehill. Each of these players have the ability to produce big yards on the ground, and Miller in particular has shown that if he can get to the second level he has the ability to outrun any defender to the end zone.
On the Defensive side of the ball, the Dolphins need to make stopping the run a priority. The Cowboys will have Tony Romo back leading the offense, but it is still important to stop Darren McFadden and the Cowboys running game. McFadden has been slowed down in practice with a strained groin injury, however, he is still scheduled to play. Miami must shut him down early in the game, and make him a non-factor. If Miami can shut down the Cowboys running attack, then they can focus on putting pressure on Romo. Romo might be rusty, but he is a very good QB, and he is especially slippery when he is under pressure, Suh and the rest of the Dolphins pass rush must wrap him up when they have the chance, and make sure to take him to the ground. One of his Houdini trick on our defense could lead to the big play which could determine the game.
The Dolphins are basically playing in a playoff game each week, because they practically need to go 5-2 or even 6-1 in the remaining 7 games if they want to actually make the playoffs. However, they need to play one game at a time, and stay focused and fight for every yard because this Cowboys game has the chance to be decided by a play or two. I think if the Dolphins can play more physical than the Cowboys than they will be able to control the trenches, and sneak away with a victory. What does the rest of the Miami Dolphins fans think about the Dolphins chances of coming away with a victory against the Dallas Cowboys?
Oh yea……38 minutes to 21 minutes in time of possession????? Let’snot run the ball (that averaged 5.2/yds carry)??????? Clueless, no other way to describe it!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
11 total carries, 7 for Lamar Miller. Doesn’t this F***ing staff know that we are undefeated when Miller carries the ball 13+ times (RBs)??????
Lazor show is fading fast.
Tannehill will NOT get this team where it needs to be (NEVER).
Sure we may need a couple new LBers, but TANNY and LAZOR are what is holding this team back.
HOW CAN YOU NOT RUN THE BALL A MINIMUM 15 TIMES, it took a 20+ carry game between Miller/Ajayi to win this game??????
OH YEA, MILLER averaged 6.3/yds carry!!!! Even Ajayi averaged 3.3/yds carry!!!!
Doesn’t this staff understand that you win the game w/just a 3.3 average per carry the entire game???
Our RBs averaged 5.2/yds carry for the game, not including our QB, he can’t even run it anymore either. The game was never in a position where you had to abandoned the run, NEVER?????
Like Campbell, but he to fading fast and it is because of his OC (Lazor)!!!!
RBs = 11 carries for 57 yds
Tanny = AVERAGE at best / Lazor = is a top notch COLLEGE OC / LBers wanted????
I just dont understand them….just don’t – they say they want to run, but run aways from the run is what they do!
I felt uneasy about the Philadelphia game but we had a few breaks so I’m hoping our luck continues and we get another victory this week.
I hope you are right and we do run more
When we run we keep their defense in and they have to cover the run possibility and that helps our passing game
It will take a flawless effort from out guys but we can do it
Fins will win by 6 points
Oh stop it. We all know fins won’t stop run. They can’t. Especially w Dallas’ OL.
Add TE Witten to that equation and it spells ball-control for ‘Boyz’.
And if you add the matchup between midget vs DBryant… This becomes a matchup hell for fins.
I’m not seeing a single matchup that favors the fins. Point to it. Exactly.
AGAIN…it would seem as if you’d eat your own. Also, it says IF…now you could say if Superman would show we’d win, but that IF presented itself for three quarters last week. That IF is named Suh (or Suhperman if you will) and if he dominates Zach like he did last week that IF might show again. Now that IF could occur if Romo is off his game and they try to run early and we load the box. And that IF could also occur if Suh performs like last week in his pass rush, which will be harder against Zach, but also is quite possible since Romo was getting lit up prior to his getting knocked out. Now Miami is top 5 in ypr and Dallas is 19th giving up over 100 yards per game. SO if WE’D commit to the run and use Tanny and Ajayi more as the article suggests then that IF has a chance to become more than pie in the sky. Now retorts are expected and wanted, but you make it personal far too much, and it seems more often than not an attempt to defame this blog – so as the admin and occasional writer, one who has defended you – now regrettably, I’ll make a retort about you on a personal level: opposing views are wanted, but not opposition for opposition sake as people of that ilk are poisonous to all they encounter and it is best, like any viper, to cut off its head rather then associate with it. We want Fins Fans not snakes around here – last warning.
The Dolphins need to capitalize on Romo’s mistakes. The guy is rusty and should give up a pick or two. A pick 6 would be nice. Dez Bryant will kill us if Romo is allowed too much time in the pocket. We need to stop the run and beat up the QB. On offense, we need to eliminate those drive killing penalties. Tannehill is a seasoned game manager with the ability to run. We can win this game if we just don’t rack up penalties and turn the ball over.
Yeah…that pretty much rounds it out, Van.
Only other things is Ajayi needs to do most pf the 0-2 holes runs… Miller can get soft in there.
