Interesting Note On Gase & Christensen
According to FOX Sports, the relationship between head coach Adam Gase and offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen has an interesting subplot that brings a tad bit of hope with it. It was considered by many that Christensen’s hire, combined with the fact that Gase would be calling the plays, made Christensen a “yes man”. But, it seems Gase is a bit wiser and cagier than some may have originally thought.
According to Stephan Holder of FOX Sports, “An interesting nugget Clyde Christensen shared: Adam Gase used to call him for tips on coaching Peyton Manning. Now he’s on his staff.” This little nugget has the potential to reveal several important possibilities.
First, for Gase to be humble enough and wise enough to contact Manning’s former coordinator and get “tips” shows strong character on his part. It’s very difficult for anyone, especially someone accomplished, to admit they don’t have all the answers. I don’t want to shock anyone, but no one has all the answers – not even my wife! To have a head coach that young and aware of his limitations is an extremely positive trait. This reveals that Gase has flexibility in his thought process – which one would hope that this trait will be translated to the game plan and play calls.
This “tidbit” also reveals that Gase and Christensen have a very good personal relationship because each has had a superior position over the other at one time or other and there isn’t any acrimony. We saw a clear picture of what kind of disharmony the flipping of leadership can bring with Campbell and Lazor. Lazor held a grudge over Campbell who went from underling to boss, and at the very least the consequences were an unfriendly working environment and at worst…it could have been much more, described here.
Both men seem to be of a similar nature and that unity will be crucial if there is any chance to get T-Hill to be at his best. Both men support T-Hill at this point. Both men have a similar mindset in offensive philosophies. And both men seem to have a greater desire to win than to “show the world they are the smartest”. Now not even the best sportsbooks in the world will bet this means certain success for Tannehill and the offense, but what it does mean that at least the arrow is pointed in the right direction. And it’s been awhile since Miami has had that – Go Fins!!!
What is it about Cardale Jones that he would slide to the 5th round? And Why not a Dolphin?, The 1st round QB’s in 2016 draft does not have this talent or Acheivements?

Yeah, a 1st- 3rd on a QB isnt going to happen – at least as I see it. 5th and up yup. And also, Logan Thomas’ eval will alter even that.

I agree with your assessment of the offensive line
We definitely need 2 new guards and one should be good enough to be a backup tackle
But after that we only need backups for tackle center and guard and maybe those can be had in later rounds thus picking a good corner Ar a good linebacker early also makes sense
We must stop the run and to do so we need a solid stud at middle linebacker
True that we might have found our corner with Lippet and I really hope so but we need a nickel corner and we need a solid backup corner
We will not be able to get all that in the draft so we most probably need to let some high paid players go and also maybe restructure Tannehill and Suh’s contracts to give us more CAP space
If we can pick oneor two good players from free agency it will change the whole dynamics of who we should draft
If we do not re-sign Miller we will need to use a mid round pick on a RB and a late pick on a Fullback
Mathis is again a free agent Guatd this year – maybe we oughta consider signing him for one year contract – it would mean we could delay our drafting a Guard till next year instead of drafting two guards this year
As always we the fans see the needs for our team and for some reason the front office always seems to see it differently as to what our priorities really are
How many years will we have to wait till we get a common sense front office that knows how to draft
Lastly given this teams history I am not sure they will keep Dion Jordan because of his past drug usage – Ross is too much of a politically correct guy and I for one would bet they get rid of Dion Jordan
I will really be pissed off if they don’t replace both Guards – How can you test our QB if in 4 years you do not give him time to throw the ball – we cannot continue to ask for miracles every game – lets finally fix that damn offensive line problem – get 2 new good Guards
My thoughts:
1.) If that’s the case, then perhaps Ross should have hired Christensen as HC and Gase OC.
2.) T-Hill is NOT Peyton Manning
3.) Everyone is “supporting T-Hill” at this point, they had to in order to be considered for the job – how long will that last?
4.) I doubt the “tips” were about how to “handle Manning” and more about understanding the scheme Manning was comfortable in – which is totally irrelevant when you think about what T-Hill can run on offense, see #2.
5.) Lets not go crowning their asses just yet eh
I too think that this staff’s fate is not determined on the success or failure of Tanny. This IS Tannys prove it year, if he doesn’t progress we will be looking/drafting a QB next year. Tanny will be released/cut and the staff will remain.
As far as the draft, the thought of drafting a RB, any RB won’t/shouldn’t happen till the later half of the draft. This years draft should be directed towards the DEFENSE. Other than a guard, there should not be a offensive pick at least till the 4th round, unless EXTREME value is there. This team needs to get more athletic at the LBer position. There should be at least 2 LBers drafted alond with a CB or 2 and a DE, and you always take a DT every draft even if late.
Again, this team, defensively will not get to where it needs to be without a BIG upgrade at the LBer position. We need to draft a minimum of 2 LBers, with one of those 2 being in the first or second round. That leaves a pick for a CB, as well as a “D” end, and lets not forget the guard position. I don’t see RB being a concern heading into the draft. A thought maybe, but not a actual target.

…was the defense the worst unit on this team in ’15? …no,of course not, and it wasn’t even close …yes we need a good LB and CB …but we may well already have those on the roster …assuming (yes I know) that Dion Jones returns in good health and has beaten his demons, he’s a naturally gifted talent at the LB position despite previous coaching staff’s determination to make him a DE …and we should have a pretty good answer on him before the draft …and then there is Lippet who despite converting from WR to CB, out graded both McCain and Grimes in coverage, albit in very limited play …but dear god, watch him play the last game against the Patriots!
…then of course there are Shelby and Hewitt to consider as having real starting talent on the defense
…and yet here you are putting all our eggs in that basket and virtually ignoring the gaping holes in the OL where there is virtually zero in-house talent …not even as backups …our one good LT can’t finish a season and our “backup” was so bad we just released him …guards? …gimme a break, eh …center? …maybe if Pouncy returns to form and Douglas develops …but its a big maybe at best …RT …the one solid position but where is the backup?

I agree both coaches are hired too make Tannehill better (But does it mean failure on their part if Tannehill cannot lead the Dolphins to the promise land?
We fans have a problem with the Dolphins Sub standard players in a pro league since 2002.
How to eliminate this: Draft one of these 3 players, “(Alex Collins has the most up side)” Dolphins could trade 1st round position for more picks. This would give the Dolphins Two picks in the second round Alex Collins could be the pick.
NOW FOR SURE YOU HAVE A RUNNING BACK WHO CAN TAKE PRESURE OFF TANEHILL.

Reinforce my opinion about Alex Collins is Elliott I really like but the Dolphins cannot afford him. Derrick Henry won the Heisman Trophy but is not considered the top Running Back in this draft???? Alex Collins has broke just about every school record but had a problem fumbling which could be corrected by good coaching?
I definitely think plan B at QB will be on order…no way these guys are sinking or swimming with just T-Hill. Collins name keeps coming up …really need to do my research on him….

I had Standford’s Kevin Hogan on my list for QB but removed him due to durability, deep pass etc. I added Christian Hackenburg. Both him and Cardale can throw deep at ease. Would be nice if the Fins could swing both.
