Mario Williams Is A Dolphin!
Miami Dolphins have officially inked Mario Williams to a two year $16 Mill contract.
The former 1st Rd pick will most likely be manning the left end position, “currently” helmed by Cameron Wake.
Does this mean Wake’s time in Miami is over? Or does it mean Vernon will officially be set to walk? Either way, whether one or both leave, Williams is expected to be an anchor on the edge with a contract that can be avoided after one season.
This will be a “prove it” season for Mario Williams.
The interesting part is Williams made it known that he would sign with the first team that offered $10 Mill a year. Sounded less love of the game than mercenary, to me. But, after only a few days on the market he took a 20% “cut” to join the Fins. This could mean either interest was low or that Tannenbaum sold him on the job.
This move could bring huge dividends if he plays up to his caliber, or if he falls into team killer mode like last season, it could be a disaster. The best sportsbooks are laying 50 /50 on which it will end up being.
On paper it look like a brilliant deal, but paper doesn’t do much come Sunday’s. Sadly, paper is what most of the “big moves” by Miami have been for years. Here’s to hoping the worm has turned on the Dolphins luck, instead of being another infestation on a dead season. Go Fins!!!
Maybe we can X 1st round pick DE now?
Never know in the Miami wonderland of adventure!!! 🙂
