Dolphins Fans Super High After Tunsil Drafted
Twilight Zone music was jamming in my head after Tunsil was selected.
Unbelievable is all that can be said about Miami’s 1st round pick. Dolphins fans are super high after Laremy Tunsil is drafted with the 13th pick – and they should be!
First, if you haven’t heard: Just before the 2016 NFL Draft, a video of Laremy Tunsil, smoking marijuana from a bong, “appeared” on his Facebook account. It started his plummet as franchises didn’t know what to make of this unprecedented event and took him off their board.
Let me make a few things clear: the video was two years old. He has passed every drug test since. This was sabotage of this kid’s career as the account was hacked. He is currently being sued by his stepfather over an a apparent frivolous attempt to exact money.
This bizarre set of circumstances that not even the best pay per head bookie could have bet on has the top player in the draft now on Miami’s roster.
So, Mike Tannenbaum has parlayed the 8th overall pick into Laremy Tunsil, the top pick in the draft, Byron Maxwell, and Kiko Alonso. Simply getting Tunsil alone at the bargain price is a masterstroke. But, if you get players out of Maxwell and/or Also no, you could have a franchise-changing event.
The video that sabotaged Tunsil is nearly two years old.
True, Dolphins still need pieces, the Corner and Guard position sticks out like a sore thumb, but Miami has just received an unbelievable stroke of luck. It has felt to me from the beginning that this wasn’t going to be like so many past bleak season, that something good was afoot. But, there is no way I expected this. And while I’m sorry that Tunsil had to suffer this, I am ecstatic for the Dolphins.
There is still a lot of work left, but what a beginning to this draft for a team and fan base that has been on hard times for so long. Are you feeling it?! Go Fins!!!
WOW, how could I miss Emmanuel Ogbah??? Add him to the list of possible picks in tonight’s draft. His slide is due to experience, he would be a good fit to mold along w Williams/Wake.
yeah tonight is big…that 2nd and 3rd is the back bone of the draft. I think CB, DE, LB, RB ..2 will be addressed tonight.
I know I am a defensive guy, but if Henry is there and we take him, I couldn’t disagree. If that happens, what the heck, grab Henry’s teammate TE Nick Vannett in the 3rd and our offense will be all set for several years at all positions.

I did not realized that the video of Laremy Tunsil was leaked out 13 minutes before the Draft? The Pendulum swung in our favor and We got him Good Stuff! Also this thing about NCAA violation he was punish for that offense already with 7 games.
Jack, Xavier, Calhoun would be nice in 2 and 3rd. It will be BPA throughout this draft.
Lemmus, GREAT move on the hack, wish I would have thought of that!
VALUE = We go from 8 to 13 picking up 2 defensive starters. Then at 13 we get EVERYONE’S top rated player at 13. How is that for value with just the simple 8 pick. That 8 pick got us 3 starters, and if not this year, definitely gives us big cap space savings as well.
Told you to sit tight Lemmus as I believe that this staff gets it and with a little help from you (hacker) they landed the #1 player on everybody’s board.
I don’t like the positional pick there at 13. BUT, to have the #1 player sitting there because of incident that occurred 2-3 years ago, Yahtzee!!!
Myles Jack is still on the board for a possible steal in the second round??? I understand the injury concern, but we could have 2 of the top 5 players in the entire draft in the first 2 rounds. Tempting!!!
If not Jack, there are 3 quality DE’s still available Admin.
Steve, you wanted the best value/players…..We got the best player at a tremendous value.
We need to take a CB in tonight’s part of the draft, but it may have to wait till the third round (Xavian Howard). Myles Jack is still on the board (imagine landing Jack, giving us 2 of the top 5 players in the entire draft after 2 rounds). There are several quality DEs also still available which may force us to take one.
Player selection in round 2 in order:
Myles Jack (LB) – Could land 2 of the top 5 players in the entire draft 🙂 🙂
Noah Spence(DE) – High character, Good/Disruptive DE for the next 10 years
Mackensie Alexander (CB) – Was mentioned in the first round the entire process, no int’s caused drop
Kevin Dodd (DE) – Another high character guy, M. WIlliams mold, 1 year wonder questions caused slid
Reggie Ragland (LB) – Every Miami fan wanted this guy back in March, here he is
Cody Whitehair (OL) – Imagine getting the top LT AND OG in the entire draft, you like that Lemmus
Andrew Billings (DL) – THIS IS MY SLEEPER PICK, this guy with Suh for the next 5 years, UNSTOPPABLE
Su’a Cravens (S/LB) – Here is our S to team up with Jones (or possible replacement after Jones act)
Xavien Howard (CB) – Good corner that fits perfectly in Joseph’s system
Kendall Fuller (CB) – Good CB, missed 15 season due to injury reason still here
We again are sitting in good position. There should be 2 QBs taken before our 42 pick, leaving 1 of 9 players mentioned for us to draft. Said the same prior to yesterday “sitting in good position”. Could never imagine landing the top OT (Tunsil) in round 1 at 13. Now can’t imagine landing Myles Jack, the top rated LBer in round 2 at 42.
Is it 7:00 yet???

Hopefully this is A positive signed for the Fins! Dan Marino was the last player who has slipped to the Dolphins? I could not have ask for a Better deal! For as the Second and third round I will Trust our management to bring home some more impact players. But I cannot stress Mentorship immediately for Tunsil We got him now and we have to protect him from the Sharks in the media?
…Albert is a class act and dominant when he is in the line …just look at our win % when he is in/out of the game …but he is also 32 and more and more injury prone …right now he has some real value as trade bait for a team needing a good LT …next year he could well have none
…if we can get another starter at a position of need for him, I’d give it a lot of consideration
…yeah, I agree he is right now the best OL veteran we have and would prefer to keep him if something really good isn’t being offered …but there is no denying that Tunstil changes the equation
ohh, and Lemmus, we get the cheaper 5th year option!!! 🙂 I think they’ll keep ALbert this year. There is a big cap hit I believe on a trade this season. Also, a stacked line means T-Hill will have to put up or shut up…not that it means the world, but T-hill strung together 3 excellent practices with deep ball accuracy. T-Hill s the centerpiece decision on the future. Making the right decision means doing everything to set him up for success…Albert will be with Miami in 2016.
Lemmus
Understand about the trade value etc. I wasn’t aware Albert was 32 But this season etc. I feel he is needed more so in the lineup and Mentoring our New #1 picked. We still have more linemen in the works. You are right about the offensive line being address early.
Lemmus, we move Albert to LG where he played in college Tunsil to left tackle leave James at RT Tackle and let Turner and are free agent tackle we signed (Bushrod?)fight it out at rt guard.
If we let Albert go we are right back where we started and without the Veteran leadership he provides.
Good info…I didn’t know that Dolfandon…good stuff thanks!!

Grier has a clear position when it comes to the debate between selecting the best player or the player who fills a need.
“You always want to take the best player, especially in the early parts of the draft because you hate to draft on need because then you’re passing up good players and could be getting bad players,” Grier said. “Face it, injuries happen in this league. You always want to be prepared. You never want to assume that everyone is going to be healthy. You always have to take the best player, in my opinion. Adding Kiko and Byron are bonuses for us because both those guys are going to be starters for us, they’re good players and it’s been fun watching them out there this week.

Grier indicated owner Stephen Ross also was excited about the pick.
One big question with the arrival of Tunsil is how the Dolphins offensive line will look considering the presence of two-time Pro Bowl left tackle Branden Albert and right tackle Ja’Wuan James, the team’s first-round pick in 2014.
“This happened and we weren’t expecting this,” Grier said. “It was an opportunity we had to take. We’ll play our best five players.”

The Steal of the Draft! I never studies him since he was always out of reach on the draft boards but here is just a little about our Number One picked!
Positives:
Words like “elite” and “blue chip” get thrown around a lot in scouting, but Tunsil is truly an elite pass protector with blue-chip potential. He didn’t allow a sack in 2015 despite going against top-notch SEC competition and was rarely ever beaten for a pressure on the quarterback.
Negatives:
At the combine, Ole Miss teammate Robert Nkemdiche dropped a bombshell during his press conference when he mentioned Tunsil was in the room with him when he fell out of a fourth-floor hotel window in Atlanta.
Focusing purely on the field, there is little to worry about. Tunsil broke his leg and dislocated an ankle in the 2014 Peach Bowl, but he returned to form immediately once the NCAA cleared him to play again. He also missed two games in 2014 due to a torn bicep, which means he’s never played a complete season in college.
We have linemen like Albert etc. who can really help to mentor Mr. Tunsil Growth with the Dolphins. Fans! don’t be so quick to say lets get rid of Albert he’s a class Act we never had to worry about his character being in questioned? We have a good thing with Tunsil on the our team Mentorship, Mentorship, Mentorship Go Dolphins!
MENTORSHIP!

In Fairness to Albert! The Fins never allowed him to heal and Albert is a Class Talent and player. We need to continue Building with the Albert’s and move on. That’s been the problem with this system. The Fins have traded away all of the there make a deferment’s players over the years because of????? Now Mr. Jones the safety has a contract he has to honor it? I would not entertained the thought of trading him? We need to keep the good players by being firm, fair and consistent. So, Mike Tannenbaum AND HIS STAFF has earned thier pay to have drafted Laremy Tunsil, the top pick in the draft. Plus Byron Maxwell, and Kiko Alonso in the trade for 13th pick. I give A+ so FAR! GO DOLPHINS!
Steve, like Admin said, James will be kicked inside at RG, at least for the first year. Lemmus, this is 4 O-Lineman that are first round picks. No excuses!!!
Laremy Tunsil is drafted with the 13th pick. This is Truly a Blessing for Laremy to slide from the top 5 to picked 13th. Great Job to the Management Team Go Dolphins! Hopefully the Fins pair these new players with the BEST MENTOR on the Team? If we can pulled A Nick Martin etc. our Offensive line would be looking pretty Good?
T-Bomb might need a new nickname after this!!!
…I swear to god I thought they were going to pass on him …and then the OC smacked Gase up side the head and Gase promptly kneed Tannebaum where it really hurts …unfreakingbelievable!
…James to RG, Tunstil to RT …Albert is now tradebait 🙂
…can’t wait for tomorrow!
I was think the same thing…I know you are ecstatic. Yeah, James at RG….I have been feeling this year for a bit, but never thought this!!! We could really be turning it around!!!
I thought of you Lemmus as soon as he was available
