Cameron Wake Signs 2 Year Extension

Cameron Wake Signs 2 Year Extension

Cameron Wake Signs 2 Year Extension

It looks like Cameron Wake will end his career as a Dolphins.

Cameron Wake has singed a two year deal which both offers cap relief and ensures one of Miami’s greatest ever will be around for longer than 2016.

According to ESPN. “The Miami Dolphins have signed 34-year-old defensive end Wake to a two-year contract extension, the team announced Saturday. The deal is worth $15 million, including $10 million fully guaranteed at signing, and it could grow to $17 million, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.”

Also, reported by ESPN, “It is the highest guarantee ever given to a pass-rusher more than 33 years old. As part of the five-year, $33 million contract he signed in 2012, Wake was slated to make $8.275 million in 2016.”

For Dolphins fans, this is obviously great news. Cameron Wake wanted to be a Dolphins and took less to make it happen. This will give a two-year window where Suh, Williams, and Wake will work together to form what most sports betting fans believe will be a ferocious defensive front for Miami.

Cameron Wake will not be sacking for another team anytime soon!

Wake started off slow last year and rumors of his career’s demise circulated. But, it was made quite clear that his struggles were due to injury, because once he was healed, he became the most disruptive force in the NFL for several weeks before his untimely Achilles tear.

Miami fans can also take comfort that it is also highly likely that Cameron Wake will spend his whole career as a Dolphin and retire in aqua! I really didn’t want to see an ugly break up with him wearing another teams colors. This 2 year contract saves me that heartbreak – seems the good news for Dolphins fans keeps coming! Go Fins!!!

Would also like to give props to Gase. He pulled a Billacheat like move, having Manning come down and help mentor Tannehill. Because coaches can not have discussions with players until mini camps/OTAs, he pulled a fast one and had Manning start the process. Which per league rules is totally legal, frowned upon I’m sure, but never the less, legal! That is something Billacheat has done to manipulate the rules.

Another sign that fortunes may be turning in Davie.

Oh yea, the contract extension shows that this staff gets “it”. If for nothing else, this extension assures that Wake finishes his career as a Dolphin, a honor that he deserves. It shows class, you can believe that the locker room recognizes such moves.

Another indication that this organization is getting back to the first class organization of the Shula days!!! Futures bright, better wear shades if you are the visiting teams at Dolphin Stadium. At last a true home field advantage once again. 🙂

They will and should not get ride of our current DC = Joseph. Unless they completely falter the entire year. Last years DC = Coyle never dictated the pace and/or style of the game. His defense sat back and played a read-react style. The LBers were terrible last year, across the board. We do have one new LBer as of now (Kiko), which could help. We could have used another via draft, but the rookies of last year will be bigger, stronger, faster, and most importantly; smarter. We shall see.

I believe the style of this years defense will help, and that alone will improve the overall performance. Plus, just the overall atmosphere, the laid back mentality of last years staff really dampened the entire team, locker room.

As Admin mentioned also, the offense should be much more sufficient. There shouldn’t be games when we run the ball 7 times one week, 13 times the next, 4 straight three and outs. One concern I do have is defenses practice tempo throughout the week/year. We all know that heat in South Florida can take a toll on players as the year wears on. Hope there is a plan in place to avoid this. And I believe there is a plan in place for just that, there is/has been a plan with everything thus far with this staff, no reason to believe that would change. Unlike last year, if there were a plan, it changed on a weekly basis.

So we pick up Williams from the Bills. Can someone tell me then why the fins Defense still sucked last year with what they had? They still should have been one of the top 3 rushing defenses in the NFL. If they can’t get it done this year they better get a new DC and get rid of the one they have now.

In my opinion, the first part was due to Coyle not using Suh correctly and being too passive. Also, the linebackers weren’t very good and Grimes was more of a 2nd CB, but was playing as a first. The lack of a consistent running game also left the D on the field at time way too long. That’s how I saw it.
