Do The Dolphins Fly High Or Nose Dive?

Dolphins have lost 3 of their last 4. Tonight, they must stop the bleeding.
The Dolphins have lost 3 of their last 4…  they must stop the bleeding.

The Dolphins are at a crossroads with maybe even more than 2018 on the line

There’s no mystery with our beloved Dolphins: They are 4-3 and trending closer to the toilet than the sky.

Injuries have piled up… but injuries are part of an NFL season. The problem is Miami had a flawed roster to start the season and minimal injuries were a prerequisite for success. No such luck. For the third season in a row, the Phins have lost too many 1st stringers due to injury.

Is this continual rash of injuries due to coaching, the training staff, bad luck, or poor drafting? Who knows.

Everything is stacked against the Phins tonight

The worst thing for a thin team is a game on a short week… and that’s what they have tonight.

The Houston Texans have played good football their last 4 games. They are 4-3 like the Dolphins… but they are trending up after 4 wins in a row.

Houston has the obvious home advantage, but they have history on their side too. The Dolphins have been terrible on Thursday Night Football. If the Dolphins play as they did in their 3 prime time games then this will be a very long night.

Sometimes you have no choice but to rise to the occasion… time for the Phins to step up

I’m very worried about this game, QB Brock Osweiler will start against his former teammates. Texans players and staff all but mocked him. Romeo Crennel is an excellent defensive coordinator with a load of talent who knows Osweiler’s weaknesses well. There could be a few turnovers as a result… and that would be game, set, ad match.

The Houston Defense is only giving up 20.6 points per game (8th best). They are allowing only 237.7 yards per game thru the air (12th best). They are excellent against the run as well with 92.1 yards per game on the ground (8th best).

Also, the Texans finally have a healthy JJ Watt who is back to his All-Pro form with 7 sacks and 4 forced fumbles so far this season.

To say that the Dolphins Offensive Line will have their hands full is an understatement.

On the opposite side, the Defense the Dolphins are coming off a disappointing performance run defense. You can expect the Texans to test the Dolphins run Defense early and often. Lamar Miller isn’t having a good season, but he has a shot to hurt his former team with a good performance.

How do you think this will go?

But the Dolphins problems will not just be with stopping the run. The Texans have one of the most dangerous and productive receivers in the game in DeAndre Hopkins. Hopkins has already disrespected Xavien Howard by saying, “Who’s that?”

Who are you, Howard?

You get the theme tonight? Pride or mockery.

Lastly, the Texans have a very mobile young QB in Deshaun Watson. Not only does Watson has a live arm but he’s lethal with his legs. We all know that Miami has a tough time with mobile QB’s.

It will take a special performance to win tonight… very special indeed.

The various pay per head reviews on the market has Miami as the +7.5 point road underdog. Another bad indication is the action is not as lopsided as one would hope if you’re a Miami Dolphins News fan. There’s only about 30% more action on the Texans. This means people are actually betting on the underdog. Maybe the oddsmakers aren’t giving the Dolphins enough points? This could be a game where Miami loses by double digits…

…But oddsmakers do get it wrong on occasion. We can only hope they do this time.

As long as the refs don’t offer up any special treats this week, the outcome of this game is in the hands of the Dolphins staff and players. This regime has been known for plenty of letdowns and a couple of big wins. Yes, Adam Gase has managed a few surprise victories over the years… but, not enough. Tonight Gase damn well better pull a rabbit out of the hat… OR from his @$$ for that matter.

What are the rest of the Miami Dolphins News fans’ thoughts about this upcoming game against the Texans?

    Great Points!

Coach Gase is the Head Coach and must assumed full responsibility for who he hire as Defensive and Offensive Coaches in addition to whom he back as the QB for the Dolphins. The key to any job is knowing the definition of the word No!

This word has cause many Coaches to lose their jobs. Coach Gase started out by telling the Dolphins what they wanted to hear I can mold Tannehill and neglected to stay in tune with the top free agency and College QB’s coming out of college during his time with the Fins as an insurance policy.

Coach Gase should have told the Dolphins hell no in order to win I will play the Best QB and continue to search free agency and draft one. When we used the word “NO” if we aren’t sure someone or group can persuade your decision. Then if something happens they will say he supposed to be the Guru or experts and he told us that we could and he has to take the blame for it.

Lack of consistency is Coach Gase problem. That said! The Patriots and the other Good NFL teams are getting Better as the season mature.

Those Ohio State linebackers are horrible!!! Both of them…..

McMillan is garbage…not even good on run downs. Been saying that since Week 2 of Preseason. Baker can be useful and has shown a ton more than McMillan. He needs to work on coverage… the fact that Anthony hasn’t been given a shot given how poor McMillan is bothers me…

Odds are stacked high against the Dolphins tonight.

Poor Thursday night performances- on the road AGAIN
    Terrible record against the Texans
Too many injuries to count including best playmaker

But, there is a very small sliver of hope
The Texans 4 wins in a row have not come against top notch teams
Sometimes the Dolphins rebound from a bad game with a surprise win no one expects

    Fingers crossed! Go Dolphins!

Very small… but I’m officially done with this regime. They need to go. I think Gae can become something down the road… maybe, but I don’t think he lasts pat this season.

This was posted by Five Reasons Sports Network:
        Joe Philbin through 40 Games:
        20-20 Record
        816 Points For
        803 Points Against

        Adam Gase through 40 Games:
        20-20 Record
        818 Points For
        892 Points Against

What’s odd to me is I find that I have/had more confidence in Gase versus Philbin. Maybe it’s because Gase seems confident and Philbin was meek in the press conferences. I’ve seen some people point out that the numbers aren’t fair because Gase had a season with Jay Cutler but the writers hit back with Gase chose Cutler and wanted him to be the guy so it wasn’t a true “backup” in that sense.

Great post, brother!…great post. My thoughts on it are this: Philbin was a consistent but awkward and timid coach. You will never win with that spirit… the whole gum on the carpet thing was cringeworthy and I was done with him right then and there. Gase is awkward, but he has gumption and can be spectacular… but he is completely inconsistent. His ceiling is higher, but his floor lower. I fear that his strength will be lost in his weaknesses. Also, he has had a far larger helping of the haft from injuries and them refs… still, I’m just about done with the experiment. He could still turn it around enough to warrant another season, but I think he has become a bit blind. I can see him down the road become a good HC… but he might need a good bit of humble pie to wake up.
