Do The Dolphins Fly High Or Nose Dive?

Dolphins have lost 3 of their last 4. Tonight, they must stop the bleeding.
The Dolphins have lost 3 of their last 4…  they must stop the bleeding.

The Dolphins are at a crossroads with maybe even more than 2018 on the line

There’s no mystery with our beloved Dolphins: They are 4-3 and trending closer to the toilet than the sky.

Injuries have piled up… but injuries are part of an NFL season. The problem is Miami had a flawed roster to start the season and minimal injuries were a prerequisite for success. No such luck. For the third season in a row, the Phins have lost too many 1st stringers due to injury.

Is this continual rash of injuries due to coaching, the training staff, bad luck, or poor drafting? Who knows.

Everything is stacked against the Phins tonight

The worst thing for a thin team is a game on a short week… and that’s what they have tonight.

The Houston Texans have played good football their last 4 games. They are 4-3 like the Dolphins… but they are trending up after 4 wins in a row.

Houston has the obvious home advantage, but they have history on their side too. The Dolphins have been terrible on Thursday Night Football. If the Dolphins play as they did in their 3 prime time games then this will be a very long night.

Sometimes you have no choice but to rise to the occasion… time for the Phins to step up

I’m very worried about this game, QB Brock Osweiler will start against his former teammates. Texans players and staff all but mocked him. Romeo Crennel is an excellent defensive coordinator with a load of talent who knows Osweiler’s weaknesses well. There could be a few turnovers as a result… and that would be game, set, ad match.

The Houston Defense is only giving up 20.6 points per game (8th best). They are allowing only 237.7 yards per game thru the air (12th best). They are excellent against the run as well with 92.1 yards per game on the ground (8th best).

Also, the Texans finally have a healthy JJ Watt who is back to his All-Pro form with 7 sacks and 4 forced fumbles so far this season.

To say that the Dolphins Offensive Line will have their hands full is an understatement.

On the opposite side, the Defense the Dolphins are coming off a disappointing performance run defense. You can expect the Texans to test the Dolphins run Defense early and often. Lamar Miller isn’t having a good season, but he has a shot to hurt his former team with a good performance.

How do you think this will go?

But the Dolphins problems will not just be with stopping the run. The Texans have one of the most dangerous and productive receivers in the game in DeAndre Hopkins. Hopkins has already disrespected Xavien Howard by saying, “Who’s that?”

Who are you, Howard?

You get the theme tonight? Pride or mockery.

Lastly, the Texans have a very mobile young QB in Deshaun Watson. Not only does Watson has a live arm but he’s lethal with his legs. We all know that Miami has a tough time with mobile QB’s.

It will take a special performance to win tonight… very special indeed.

The various pay per head reviews on the market has Miami as the +7.5 point road underdog. Another bad indication is the action is not as lopsided as one would hope if you’re a Miami Dolphins News fan. There’s only about 30% more action on the Texans. This means people are actually betting on the underdog. Maybe the oddsmakers aren’t giving the Dolphins enough points? This could be a game where Miami loses by double digits…

…But oddsmakers do get it wrong on occasion. We can only hope they do this time.

As long as the refs don’t offer up any special treats this week, the outcome of this game is in the hands of the Dolphins staff and players. This regime has been known for plenty of letdowns and a couple of big wins. Yes, Adam Gase has managed a few surprise victories over the years… but, not enough. Tonight Gase damn well better pull a rabbit out of the hat… OR from his @$$ for that matter.

What are the rest of the Miami Dolphins News fans’ thoughts about this upcoming game against the Texans?
