A Division Win Or Bust!!
The Dolphins travel to New York this Sunday to take on the New York Jets at 1pm. They will be looking to stay relevant in a crowded AFC playoff race – and also get their first victory against an AFC East team. It is not going to be easy considering that they were embarrassed by Jets in their first contest of the year, but something has to eventually give – doesn’t it?
Both teams are banged up in terms of injuries with the Jets possibly being without All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis. The Dolphins most likely will be without Right Tackle Ja’Wuan James and Linebacker Jelani Jenkins for another game. Both teams are fighting for their playoff lives. If the Dolphins lose this game, it will pretty much be lights out for them due not only to their record, but their terrible division and conference record ta’ boot.
The best sportsbook in the world and Pay Per Head sites like www.AcePerHead.com opened this game up with the Jets as the -3.5 favorite, and the line has pretty much stayed there the entire week. At one point in the odds moved the line up slightly to -4 for the Jets, but it came back down to -3.5 the following day. Considering that the Dolphins played so poorly in their last game against the Jets, and that this game is being played in New York, it is surprising that the line is only -3.5 for the Jets. The money makers clearly feeling that the Jets have regressed since their first meeting.
The Dolphins need to play with some pride and find a way to stop Chris Ivory from having a big day on them. In the London game, Ivory gashed the Dolphins for 166 yards on the ground with 1 touchdown on 29 carries. If the Dolphins want to have any chance of winning this game, they will need to find a way to contain Ivory and not allow him to rack up yards in chunks.
On offense, the Dolphins need to start putting points on the board. Besides the two blowouts against the Titans and Texans, the Dolphins have only put up 20 points or more one other time this season. The Dolphins are ranked 27th worst in the league in points per game with them only scoring 20.5 points per game. Most would say the Dolphins have talent on offense, however, their main issue is that the play calling and the coaching is not finding the most optimal way to utilize it.
It will be interesting to see which Miami Dolphins team shows up this Sunday. It will also be interesting if Campbell can keep them motivated. What kind of performance does the rest of the Miami Dolphins news fans think the Dolphins will put on the field this Sunday?
