A Surprise Player to Keep an Eye on
During the phins recent mini-camp, one player that Philbin specifically singled out was James. James has world-class track speed and has exhibited that early and often during practices, and Philbin has said that his speed has been visibly noticeable. He is small at 5’9”, 195 pounds so he is not built to be an every-down back in the NFL, but he has that breakaway speed that demands special plays be designed for him.
Most fans and the pay per head bookie service sites like AcePerHead.com would say that Bill Lazor is one of the top offensive minds in the NFL, and he has the creative mindset to be able to get the most out of each of his player’s specific talents. If James can continue to shine this off-season than Lazor needs to dip into his playbook and find some plays that can specifically utilize James’ unique skill set.
Another option that Miami should seriously consider is putting James on kick off and punt return duties. James had some success in college scoring 1 career TD on only 14 career return opportunities. Landry is going to be one of the focal points of the phins offense, so it might be wise to give him a breather instead of also asking him to handle the kick and punt returning responsibilities, which could open up an opportunity for James. Does the rest of you Miami Dolphin news gurus think James can carve a niche in Miami, or is he just not cut out for the NFL?

I am a devoted dolphin fan for life! I look forward to our first game of the season! from #1fan ‘Jon”
Same here Jon, I am very excited for this upcoming season
Everyone looks fast running around in their underwear. Lets see what happens when the hittin starts before we crown his ass….ok?
Now if thats his wife…Im impressed. Lets keep an eye on her eh?
Yes that is his wife. He is extremely fast and proved his speed is real when he was at Oregon
I believe he sticks, mainly due to his return skills. Not that he isn’t a good back, but Miami’s RB position is deep and the team will probably keep four, w/the forth being James due to his return skills.
And Landry might get less reps in ST. He will be a major cog and it’s always risky on returns. James might be able to spell him and be that relief.
I was really happy last year when we signed him. Also disappointed that he didn’t get much playing time. Yes he has been in the league four years but was playing behind a top rb in Gore. I think he could still be a great change of pace back. We could need him to be if we can’t resign Miller and Ajayi becomes the main back after this season
James has unique speed and the coaching staff should take advantage of this by designing a handful of plays specifically for him
