Achane Responds to Phins Being Called ‘Soft’!

The Miami Dolphins have been called a soft team for quite some time by their fans, the media, and players around the league. Heck, last season Dolphins players Jordan Poyer and Jordyn Brooks called the team soft, and Jalen Ramsey had a pep talk with the team about beating the ‘soft’ label. This Dolphins made this offseason all about getting bigger and tougher by adding TE Pharoh Brown, OL James Daniels, and a 1000lbs in their first three picks of the 2025 Draft.

It’s clear this regime is sick of being labelled as a finesse team and are driving the team build hard to shed that label. I also know the Dolphins have been soft without a doubt, but it’s not about the past now. It’s about this season and according to the Dolphins electrifying running back Devon Achane, they won’t be ‘soft’ this year.

Achane is out to prove the Phins aren’t soft anymore

Achane recently bristled at the mention of being soft and had strong response saying, “”I feel like we go out there and practice every day, and we are going to show when the season comes everybody who was saying those little remarks, just make sure they keep the same energy.”

Considering Achane is a big key to the rushing attack of the Phins and the run game is key to Miami kicking the finesse label, it’s great to hear him take the talk of ‘soft’ so personally. I don’t and have never doubted the toughness of Achane. But I do have some concerns on the offensive side of the ball despite the influx of blocking talent.

Will the Dolphins prove themselves able to flip this script?

As Mike McDaniel said last season, “That’s the thing with narratives, there’s one way to change them.”

The past is the past and you can’t change it. If the Phins want to beat this knock and have a successful season this year, then they’d better not be soft.

The Bills, Jets, and Patriots are all working on getting tougher and a high-flying, finesse Dolphis offense will find themselves the red-haired stepchild of the division. And, if Phins end up soft again, then you can bet with the best pay per head that McDaniel won’t have to worry about this team being labeled soft next year because he won’t be here. Go Phins!!!
