Gase’s Vision For Rookie Minicamp
Adam Gase has a truly unique vision for the rookie minicamp.
Gase’s vision for the rookie minicamp makes it quite clear that even though he hasn’t coached Miami through even one play, he will not be doing things same-ole’, same-ole’.
Time management and efficiency are essential qualities for an NFL coach.
Less must be more in order to make the obscene schedule of an NFL coach a successful one.
This weekend’s rookie minicamp will display in Gase something that is rare in a copycat league: originality in forward-thinking.
Most of the time what makes for an NFL success story or a failure is preparation or lack thereof.
The irony is, in a game of titans, it’s the mind that separates the men from the boys.
Adam Gase has shown in the early stages of his tenure that he sees both the macro and micro simultaneously.
Does this sound overblown – maybe, but it’s still true.
Gase commented early that what players want most in a coach is the ability to get them to excel and in being their best to get paid.
It doesn’t take an expert at pay per head bookie to realize the truth in that statement.
Winning and getting paid is the sum of every member of the NFL – case closed.
Is this a unique approach to the rookie minicamp a sign of things to come?
This rookie minicamp will do just that – and without taking a live rep, a sprint, blocking a bag, or running a route.
This avant-garde approach has been in the making for nearly a year in the mind of Adam Gase.
Rookies will undergo intensive scheme work, assignments, film work, and playbook study along with a rookie symposium to aid in life-skills, nutrition, and body maintenance. A secondary effect is a rest it will provide on the bodies of the players who have been going non stop from a season into draft preparation. The hope is it will lessen the rookie wall.
Some might scoff – but, come training camp the line between the men and boys will be quite clear. The rookies will be expected to have a firm grasp on the mental aspects…and if not, then they will have one foot out the door, and the roster cuts will be that much easier. There will be no excuses for players young and old this training camp – it will be gone from minute one. Go Fins!!!
Admin, as long as I don’t see Gase’s post game locker room speech being read form a 3×5, its all good. That to me was a sign (Philbin), never have I seen something so ridiculous!!!
It unbelievable when you think about it,,,Philbin really couldn’t get much worse. It has to be one of the worst hires…bottom 10% all time.
I concur Admin. I may be drinking the Kool Aid, just as I did last year. However; this Kool Aid has a unique flavor for some reason. Starts with the draft, seemed that this staff went in with a plan and executed their plan. The impressive part was that they (and no one else in the country) imagined Tunsil being there at 13 (Thanks again Lemmus). So right from the start their draft board changed, yet they stayed cool, moved around to get the players that they coveted. Players that Gase desires for his system. It just seemed like it was all planned, right to the very last pick (a player that visited and hoped that this place would be home = Doughty). Now the innovative coach has the rookie camp with no on-field activities, a theory that has already caught on, with another team going to do the same.
Just seems that Gase knows that his system will be successful. He has that Billacheat persona. We have a month to relax until the real bullets start to fly, then we should all be reassured that this Kool Aid is unique and everything is planned. We have a winner at the Top (Gase)!!!
good stuff Dunner, I think Gase is different and has displayed alot of good qualities. But, come game day, under intense pressure, will he perform and get his players to perform? We will find out soon, but he is already better than Philbust.
…we will see …the FO had a good draft …actually, giving credit where due, more than good
…now we turn to the time of year when the coaching staff really earns their pay …can they turn a losing product into a winning one …its on them more than the FO now …more so even than the players
…we have the makings of a decent team, maybe even a play-off worthy one …but the difference will be in how the coaches do their job …starting now
…will they try and make Tunsil a guard like they tried to make Jordan a DE? …I don’t know …neither do I know if they’d have more success if they did …that’s what they get paid for …making those calls …I’m just a fan who likes to opine now and again …they get paid to put a winning NFL team on the field …here’s hoping they earn every bonus available to them
…so many questions …so much potential between the FAs and Jordan if we get a few breaks our way …the medical issues that are outstanding could, in and of themselves, determine how much success we have this year …so many holes that could be filled if just a couple questionable players perform to potential rather than to last year’s record …theirs and the fins
…but I have no reason to question Gase’s approach until I see the results …he was hired to do a job …his way and no one else’s …so I’m not about to doubt him right now just because he’s not a Belichik, Shula, or Philbin clone …give him the rope …he’ll either hang himself with it or lasso a ring …either way, its his time.
I sometimes wonder if my excitement is simply addition by subtraction with Philbust gone, but in all honesty, through the lens of a clean slate all seems to be well. It could very easily all come crashing down, but then again it might not. Hey, if a pot smoking vid can land the top pick at 13 to Miami, I hold out hope for just about anything. June is fast approaching so we’ll see soon enough. I’m hoping I don’t have to brake out my pick-fork and torch again….Last, some college fan was saying Tunsil played LG before so it’s not unheard of…haven’t checked it out yet though.
