The Miami Dolphins will host the Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday at 4:25p in Miami, and the Dolphins will be looking to redeem themselves after last weekend’s embarrassment in Buffalo. The Chiefs have not looked like the playoff team they were last year, and have already lost their first two games.
The Chiefs are banged up with linebacker Derrick Johnson and safety Eric Berry listed as officially out, and Jamaal Charles has a high ankle sprain, so even if he plays he is not going to be his explosive self. It was not like the Chiefs offense and defense were that successful this season with these players, so losing 2 key players on defense and having their star running back not 100% healthy should not help the Chiefs. The Chiefs defense is allowing a league worst QB rating of 124.4, and the offense has averaged just 13.5 points after 2 games.
All sports gambling fans will admit that Tannehill has limped out of the gate for this 2014 season, by having two sub par games. The Chiefs defense should be the perfect chance for him, and the rest of the offense to get back on track. Clay has been listed as questionable for this game, but he has yet to have a solid game this season, so regardless if he plays, it is going to be up to the receivers to make plays in the passing game. Lazor and Tannehill need to find out a way to attack the Chiefs defense, and start opening up the play book, and using more hurry up offense. The Dolphins should also think about giving Rishard Matthews more playing time. He played extremely well in training camp, and during the pre-season games, and maybe he can help give the passing game a little bit of a spark.
The Dolphins are going to be without Moreno, so Miller, Williams and Thomas are going to have to step it. So far none of the three have proven themselves to be anything more than a change of pace 2nd string back, with their performances being about as exciting as their common last names. Someone in this group needs to step up and at least provide Miami with some resemblance of a running game. If the running game can not provide any support for the offense, then Tannehill is going to have a long and difficult afternoon.
This is definitely a winnable game for the Phins, and hopefully with the support of the home crowd the Dolphins can play more like they did in the second half of the Pats game, then how they played in Buffalo. The sports betting software like Ace Per Head in the world opened the Miami line at -5 for the phins. Since then it has moved down to -4 because more action has been coming in on the underdog. Usually when there is decidedly more action on the underdog, then the underdog tends to lose. Hopefully this trend will continue so the Dolphins can get back on track and finish the third week of the season with a 2-1 record.
