Brady is in the process of appealing the suspension, which will be heard on June 23, but it would be extremely likely that Roger Goodell does not keep the 4 game suspension in place. Frankly, I feel that the penalty should have been much steeper, especially considering that Brady vehemently denied having anything to do with the deflated balls, but I guess when you are the poster boy of the NFL you get some slack when it comes to lying and cheating.

Even if Brady has to serve the full 4 games, the rest of the league better watch out for the Patriots, and I am not just referring to cheating. Last season after the Patriots were blown out at home on Monday night football in the fourth week of the season against the Kansas City Chiefs, the media was immediately calling this the end of a dynasty in New England, and saying that Brady was going downhill. Well, we all saw what happened after that game, the Patriots won the next 7 games in a row and finished the season out by going 10-2, and then taking that momentum all the way to another Super Bowl victory.

So as much as Brady missing the first four games are going to be a good thing for the rest of the AFC East teams, it also is a double edge sword, because Brady does not need extra ammunition or chalkboard material to motivate him. Brady is one of the most competitive sports athletes of this century, he is the Michael Jordan of the NFL, and most football gambling fans would bet that Brady is going to be on a mission this season when he does complete his suspension. The former 6^th round pick does not need any more incentive in his career to prove people wrong, and this is something that Brady is going to take personally when he finally is allowed to take the field.

One good thing besides Brady missing some games is that as good as he is, he will still need a game or two in order to get into the swing of things. So hopefully the Patriots lose at least 2 of their first four games of the season (games that Brady will not be playing as long as Goodell sticks to his guns) and hopefully, the Pats lose his first game back against the Colts. That would mean they would have a 2-3 record and not much room for error for the remainder of the season. However, if anyone can go nearly perfect in the last 11 games of the season it would be Tom Brady and the Patriots.
