Bills Loss Means ‘Same Old Dolphins!’

It’s amazing how we Phins fans keep cheering for the Miami Dolphins year after year, letdown after letdown… but that’s what happens when you are a fanatic. Even when the promise turns into failure, you keep supporting them, hoping that they one day can surprise you and win when it matters. Add the 2023 Season as one more blemish to the long list of disappointments–unless there’s a Kansas City miracle. The Dolphins followed their long-standing script and fell apart at the end of the season when it mattered the most. It started with the epic collapse on Monday night against the Titans, took a brutal turn in the loss to the Bills with the loss of the AFCE title, and will likely finish in freezing-cold Kansas City on Saturday.

Miami is most consistent in letting fans down

At least the Dolphins got walloped by the Ravens early and there was time to accept the defeat and move on to hoping to beat the Bills. But letting the Bills come back in the second half and steal the division was brutal and cruel as it went to the bitter end. What was the most depressing part about that game, wasn’t watching the train wreck in slow motion, knowing how it ends and there’s nothing you can do about it, it was that all the Bills fans at the game cheering louder than the Dolphins fans. Whenever we got the ball on offense the noise was extremely loud and it felt like we were playing on the road.

So much for home-field advantage for the Miami Dolphins. Sad!

The reality is if Miami won against Buffalo, then they’d play them again this week in Miami, and frankly, it was a bad bet that Miami would beat Buffalo two weeks in a row. We are 2-11 against Buffalo in our last 13 games, and even with two interceptions in the endzone, another fumble recovery, and a stop at the goal line at the end of the 1st half, we still weren’t good enough to beat them.

That’s a sobering and brutal truth to the Phins situation.

Now we must hope of a Kansas City miricle!

Now we get to go on the road against the reigning Super Bowl champions the Kansas City Chiefs and the reigning Regular Season MVP Patrick Mahomes.  The various pay per head sites have opened the line at +3.5 for the Dolphins. I don’t think we will win this game; however, I feel like we will have a better chance to win this game on the road in Kansas City, than winning at home against Buffalo. Even though Maholmes is the best QB in the league, he doesn’t have the offensive weapons that the Bills have. Also, we’ve historically played better against him, than against Josh Allen who constantly dominates us.

Jerome Baker had surgery today and Andrew Van Ginkel is out with his foot injury. So the defense is even weaker. Will Mostert and Waddle play? I would hope they can because there are no more ‘saving guys for the biggest game’. This is it if we lose, the season is over. Hopefully, Miami can have a better game plan this time around, compared to when they played them in Germany because they didn’t play up to their offensive potential that time.

The fact that Hill was pretty much a non-factor in the previous game, had a costly fumble that was returned for a touchdown, and a drop that would have been a touchdown isn’t comforting. Hopefully, Hill can play better now that he is coming back to Kansas City because he is our best player and we need him.

But you have to wonder even if he does play lights out will it be enough? It better be or the 2023 Season will be another letdown… and maybe the most disappointing in decades.

What are the rest of the Miami Dolphins News fans’ thoughts on their chances in this upcoming playoff game?
