Brew Of Good Events Makes Fins Kool-Aid Taste Sweet

Time for a big drink of aqua-colored Kool-Aid

Time for a big drink of aqua-colored Kool-Aid

The early in the off season is the perfect time for a drink of Kool-Aid

I always loved Kool-Aid and the Miami Dolphins as a kid.

Hot summer days, covered in dirt and sweat from playing all morning, made my mom’s call for lunch a treasured thing, because I knew there’d be a sandwhich with some deli-meat and cheese, pickles, a heap of chips… and of course, a big glass of ice-cube cooled Kool-Aid.

Nothing was better–seems like yesterday.

It feels like it’s been nearly as long since I had a big swig of Dolphins fan-aid. So, I’m going to embrace this recent string of good events with a glass or two of hype filled, only slightly objective, aqua-colored Kool-Aid.

First, Ryan Tannehill‘s knee is stable. It seems to have paid off that Miami’s QB is both brilliant and a student of sports medicine. Added to it some hi-tech European stem cell injections, and the Dolphins mobile signal caller will have two good wheels heading into 2017.

Can you say SWEET Potatoes!!

Reasons to drink Kool-Aid has been in short supply as of late–until now

Regardless of whether you like Tannehilll or not, he will be the Dolphins QB this season and mobility is a big piece of his game. If you like Miami wins, his ability to move, as he has in the past, will go a long way towards bringing “W’s”.

Then there is Miami compensatory picks: three of them, including the top pick of the bunch. Yeah, I’d like to have seen Miller’s pick be a bit higher, but Matthews departure earned a third pick, so I can’t complain too much.

If you think about it, Miami got back a pick for Olivier Vernon only a few spots higher than what he was drafted for. Yes, they need to make something of that pick, but didn’t I say this was a Kool-Aid post? So, of course the Real Bookies odds are in favor of us nailing a star with the pick!

Then there’s the returns for Miller and Matthews: Miller earned us a pick one round later than he was drafted and Matthews earned us a pick two rounds higher–that’s a win. Mike Tannenbaum made the right calls on all of these, especially given the amount of money laid out for all three players. This buys him a little more rope in my mind.

We saw a 7th round pick bring in a player familiar to Adam Gase. Thomas fills a need and was willing to take substantially less to play. This was more for less and another wining move. And if the Branden Albert trade goes through, then Thomas will have made it to Miami for essentially nothing–Fins up!

Add in Cameron Wake’s contract  getting extended, Vance Joseph moving on, Reshad Jones being fully recovered, and Laremy Tunsil moving to his natural spot and it easy to see that Miami has been on a nice little roll of things heading in the right direction.

Man, I tell you, this little bit of Kool-Aid really tastes almost as sweet as mom’s… I defiantly could go for some more. How about you? Go Fins!!!

Totally agree Admin. If we could get a 3rd or 4th rounder for Moore, sorry Moore, I like you the player/person but we need draft picks in this draft (defensive heavy), think they would do so. Another bargaining chip could be Lippett, on rookie deal, is an ascending player. Believe lot of teams would be interested in Lippett if he was available via trade or draft pick swaps, etc.

I too, believe Stills is gone. I wasn’t thinking so until the last few days. Awe, maybe it is all “Fake” news and Stills salary range isn’t in the 12 million/year range. If so, see you and good luck.

Only a few weeks away from free agency, and I don’t believe Tannenbaum is going to stay quiet, I also believe we will be moving around in the draft. We should have a much clearer picture of draft direction once April rolls around. Makes for fun entertainment as fans, just hope he gets it right. 50/50 call.

…hhhmmm …don’t agree on Lippet …he’s home grown and cap cheap with high potential to improve by leaps and bounds …he’s got less than 2 years TOTAL experience at CB, lots and lots of room to grow …if some loon offered a 2nd, ok, but otherwise no …Maxwell is no certainty and Howard is still developing …Lippet is cheap insurance with the potential to start if Maxwell does another fade

…as for Tannenbaum, he thinks of himself as a deal maker …there will likely be another move before the draft …I think it will be Moore if they are really convinced on TH …but I also think Parker could be up for grabs if they really want to keep Stills …if TH/Gase decide Stills is the one, Parker could draw real trade attention

…and yes, you could certainly sub Parker for Lippet in my prior argument …but Parker is a talent at a talent loaded position for the fins …ie, he’s exdpendable if Stills stays …that isn’t the case with Lippet …a Parker trade isn’t likely but its isn’t a stretch either …imnsho 🙂

I think Lippett will stay, Moore though I could def. see that. I could see Cutler coming to Miami on a cheap deal because he loves Gase. STILLS IS GONE!!! He won’t have a shot in heck to return. They could use that money to sign Landry to a long term contract. I hope they sign him early or his numbers will go up. Yeah, I agree Tannenbaum ain’t done wheeling and dealing… so far I like what he has done. Hope it continues.

…too many calories in kool-aid …might as well straightline sugar!

    …that aside

…think Stills is gone, no way his agent leaves millions on the table just to keep finfans happy …so the question becomes can Caroo fill his shoes in a 3 WR set …or with Thomas in the loop, does Gase go with a 2 TE set much more often

…and with TH’s knee out of the ambulance case category, is Moore now on the trading block? …he had a better QBR than most of the starting QBs and, with the shortage of good QB prospects in the draft, his value will never be higher …he could bring a 3/4 round pick or trade offer from a number of QB hungry teams …can’t believe the FO would keep him if a decent offer emerged.

Yeah, I was on the gone train very early. I thought around 10 mill was called nuts…but, now they are talking 12 mill. He is gone, no if ands or buts. Moore I could see go… Cutler is out there. I could see hem spend some cash and get him as a back up and move moore. Carroo–if he pans out–is looking like one heck of a move.
