The Broncos trade for Flacco may end up workin in the Dolphins favor in the 2019 Draft

The 2019 Draft may land the Dolphins a QB?

With the 2019 Draft around the corner, Chris Grier, Marvin Allen, and Brian Flores are all clear to rebuild. But, it doesn’t mean the Miami Dolphins are in “tanking” mode.

Phinsnews is split on which is best: M.J. wants a full rebuild and I lean towards more of a retool.

Like some Phinsnews fans, I think the addition of a quality Quarterback would make all the difference.

Coach Flores is coming fresh off a Super Bowl win with his Defense that shut down a Rams Offense that put up 32.9 PPG. The second best “O” in the league was manhandled by ‘scheme’ and play calls as much as talent.

Flores isn’t coming here with the intentions of losing willingly.

Bottom Line: You don’t need sports betting software providers like Ace Per Head to know that Miami needs to Draft a QB in this upcoming draft.

I would love to see them draft one in the first round.

However, the talk is that Owner Steven Ross really loves Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa. But he won’t be available until the 2020 draft.

Ross’ love of Alabama’s QB is a big reason there has been chatter about the Dolphins tanking this season. A complete bust of the 2019 Season would give a clear shot at drafting Tua… but this might not end up the road they choose.

Don’t chew my head off, Tua is a promising young talent at the game’s most important position; BUT: Tua has had knee issues, so durability is a question. And then there was his performance in the bowl game against Clemson.

I’m not sold on Tua… yet.

But, with the Broncos trade for Joe Flacco, there’s a good chance Miami can land a QB in 2019. They are now in striking distance awith pieces to sell.

Should they part with Howard to move up? Would a bundle of picks be a better move?

If the Quarterback the Phins choose ends up elite… OF COURSE, it would. But, netting another Ryan Tannehill or even slightly better than him would be a disaster.

One of the Top QBs won’t be had with the 13^th Overall Pick… unless a stud falls into their laps as it did with Minka and Tunsil.

Can Miami afford to roll the dice on a miracle QB slide?

The current draft order of teams ahead of the Phins in the 1st RD:

Arizona Cardinals: Have a 1st Round Pick invested in Josh Rosen, but they could be a trading partner… it would cost the farm, though.
San Francisco 49ers: Locked into QB Garoppolo, but might trade the pick to a team desperate for a QB.
New York Jets: Darnold and Gase are BFFs, but they could trade the pick.
Oakland Raiders: Is Gruden high on Carr? The pick could be either used on a QB, another position or traded to a team looking for a signal caller
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Arians loves Winston, so a QB with this pick isn’t an option. But he could trade the pick. This is the lowest I see Miami moving to.
New York Giants: The 6th Pick is the first certain spot where a QB will be taken. Manning is the past. The Giants must make the future happen now. They could also move up to get the one they want.
Jacksonville Jaguars: This is a talented and veteran team, so a veteran QB like Foles makes the most sense. But they could also draft a QB as well. Not likely, but possible.
Detroit Lions: Stafford is the Lions Franchise QB, but trading out of this spot is a very real possibility.
Buffalo Bills: For better or worse, Allen is their QB going forward, but a team behind the Dolphins could move up to this spot and grab a QB… if a good one is still available.
Denver Broncos: Denver needs a QB, but the trade for Flacco makes it less likely that they move up to get one. They could still draft a QB at this spot… BUT, they have plenty of holes to fill.
Cincinnati Bengals: Dalton is their QB, but teams behind Miami could move up and take one.
Green Bay Packers: Rodgers is the QB here, but, as with Cincy, teams behind Miami could move up and take one.

The current situation doesn’t bode well for the Dolphins chances of landing a top tier QB in the 1st Round by standing pat.

There are four QB names floating around the Dolphins in the 1st Round:

Daniel Jones from Duke: Intelligent and accurate but lacking arm talent.
Dwayne Haskins from Ohio State: All the talents needed, but not mobile or experienced and rail-thin.
Drew Lock from Missouri: Exceptional arm talent and mobility, but poor mechanics and average accuracy.
Heisman trophy winner Kyler Murray from Oklahoma: Everything you’d want in a QB, but diminutive and there’s uncertainty about his commitment to football.

I like Miami’s chances with Dwayne Haskins and Kyler Murray the most.

These two young men ‘appear’ to have the best chance at making an impact, selling tickets, and resuscitating the fan base.

The Broncos acquisition of Flacco removes one team ahead of Miami from moving up. It also allows Grier the option of jumping just slightly ahead of Denver to get a QB that’s slipped. Miami has an excellent chance to at least get one of the Top four without selling the farm.

Still, as I said, I’m far less sold on Lock and Jones… at this point.

FACT: This team will never be relevant until we find ourselves a young franchise QB. Drafting a QB each and every year until we finally find a quality one must be the rule!

Hopefully, we hit on one sooner rather than later…

… But you can’t find one till you pick one. Maybe someday we’ll thank John Elway for the trade?!
