Can Miami Start 6-0?
I just read an article that stated that the Miami Dolphins are going to start 6-0. That is a bold statement for a team that has not had a winning record since 2008 when they won the AFC East and the last time they made it to the playoffs. If they can go 6-0 to start the season, most Phin Fans would say that this would be a terrific way to set themselves up for a trip to the playoffs.
The main reason why this article said the Dolphins would go 6-0 to start the season was because of the list of starting Quarterbacks they would face in the each of the games.
1) Washington Redskins Kirk Cousins
2) Jacksonville Jaguars Blake Bortles
3) Buffalo Bills Matt Cassel or Tyrod Taylor or E.J. Manuel
4) New York Jets Ryan Fitzpatrick
5) Tennessee Titans Marcus Mariota
6) Houston Texans Brian Hoyer
I’ll tell you I don’t mean to be a homer, but looking at that list, and thinking about our suffocating Defensive Line, I would be disappointed if we did not at least go 5-1. There are not many starting QB’s in the league that the best sportsbooks online would rank lower than this bunch. Miami’s defense should be able to feast on these QB’s and rack up a bunch of sacks and turnovers.
Not only are these QB’s not even close to being as good as our very own Ryan Tannehill, but their teams are all mediocre or less than mediocre. If Miami wants to make the playoffs this year, they need to pull out a “W” against these types of “should beat” teams. These teams will be a good warm up before they start playing playoff contender teams like the Patriots, Cowboys, Eagles, Ravens, Chargers and Colts.
It is only preseason, but just from watching the starting team play and seeing the young and hungry energy on the sidelines during the games, it is clear that the culture in this organization is changing for the better. The talent level is clearly better than anything coach Philbin or Tannehill have had to work with in their previous years in Miami, and there is good reason to be excited and encouraged. However, the Dolphins must not take anything for granted, and even though on paper they should be able to win all of these games, they must do it on the field when it counts. Does the rest of the Miami Dolphins news fans think that 6-0 could be a reality, or is this just another mirage in the desert for thirsty Phin Fans?!

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.
I agree, but it is a team game, even if it is a QB driven league. I think injuries and depth will be key this season. The team needs to stay as healthy as possible, thus quality depth. I keep wondering Jimmy if a trade will occur like trading Matthews or even Matt Moore? I understand that Matt Moore has not looked good in preseason thus far? Teams like KC need WR’s and maybe Matthews could be a good fit for a trade regarding OG? I am sure the team will scour the waiver wire even after the 4th preseason game to see what quality players have been released in an attempt to bolster depth. 6-0 is possible, but just how probable? Go Fins!
Well besides those QB’s being weak those teams are weak as well. The toughest of the bunch is the Bills and its not like they have been cranking out any kind of championships. Besides QB’s most of the teams are bottom of the barrel.
As bad as Moore as played, we need to have an experience back up QB just in case. In regards to Matthews unless we can get a stud Guard or Cornerback I want to keep him and believe he has earned playing time. Matthews has also developed a very solid chemistry with Tannehill. I would say the probability of a trade is very small, 20% at most
Tyrod Taylor is the starter in Buffalo, I think we have a great shot a starting out hot. The real issues was the unexpected release of Brandon Fields… I didn’t even see that coming!
I sure don’t understand why you people claim that Finfreak is any less of a Phin fan then ya’ll. I myself have been a Finfan for many years. The way this team has played and finished the season for the last several years is enough to question everything they do. We all know you can’t buy a winning team. I like the rest of the fans have high hope for this season. I also think 6-0 is a stretch. Keep in mind it has been how long since they won four in a row? much less six in a row.
I’m speaking from reality. I’m hoping they can do it as much as the next fan.
GO DOLPHINS!!!
For all you writing and English Nazis, do to a major learning disability I have suffered from my entire life. Please excuse my lack of proper writing etiquette.
I think 5-1 is a realistic probability, the teams and QB’s were are playing are middle of the pack at best
Uh 6-0? NFW.
Fins aren’t just facing opposing QB’s ya know. There’s a whole nother HC and staff on the other sideline too, oh and like 50 other players.
Secondly a couple of those QBs you so quickly dismiss aren’t as bad as you infer and have very good supporting cast.
6-0? What the hell r u smokin?
I wish I could have bet on if phinfck would comment and say something negative about this. GO FIND A NEW TEAM. This is an exciting time for phins fans and instead we have despicable lousy fans like phinfck constantly complaining about our team.
Please stop commenting on our blog, I speak for the rest of the true phins fans on this blog. Get lost you cry baby. Go back to cheering for the Jets
I agree, tired of these fair weather fans who live to bitch rather than support, back to the article.
The only team that worries me in the first 6 games is Buffalo, there D line is every bit as good as advertised.
The only thing that will hold Buffalo back is there QB,The Dolphins definitely have the advantage with THill, my only concern is our O line jelling quick enough to handle the Bills front 7, and I do believe our O Line will be pretty good this year but it is going to take a few live games for them to completely come together.
If they are hitting on all cylinders by the time we play the Bills I can see 6 in a row.
I’m so sick & tired of “supposed” fin fans if your a fan then you stand by your team NO MATTER WHAT!!! I’m not saying you can’t disagree, but putting them down, talking shit on??really?? You can always go route for the jets, bills,or pats!!! Still wanna cry?take that B.S.Somewhere else GO FINS!!! BTW ON PAPER WE CAN,SHOULD WIN NOT ONLY THE EAST,BUT THE ENTIRE AFC!!!
I agree Anthony I have no problem with some disagreements, but enough with putting the team down. I can honestly say this is the most excited I have been for a season in over a decade. We have talent and we can truly beat anyone in this league. Will win the Super Bowl this year, probably not, but I think we can make the playoffs and maybe even get to the AFC Championship if the team can gel and we dont have any big injuries
I agree the Buffalo game will be the biggest challenge but I will take 5-1, which is doable. In terms of betting we will probably be favored in 5 out of the 6 games
Freak (Ireland). It’s not what we are smoking; rather, what we are drinking. Yes, we are drinking the Kool-Aid. And we (true Fins fans) should be. This is by far thee most talented roster Miami has had is a decade, and yes that does include 2008, by far. And Freak, 6-0 is not far fetched. Why, because you can name several more reasons why Miami would win each and every one of those games opposed to not winning them.
Washington = Mess, Cousins leads all QBs in turnovers by a WIDE margin, Skins O-Line unstable. Cousins will be taking ice baths for a few days after that game.
Jaguars = Miami beat them last year with a inferior team, enough said.
Bills = This is the one game out of the 6 that presents the most challenge. However; Bills first road game, and this Miami D Front is not the same D Front the Bills have seen from Miami in loooong time. Taylor will need his running shoes, which won’t be enough.
Jets = Facing the Jets at the right time. Going across the pond to play is like a home game for Miami, which has fared well there. Again, can the Jets score enough, not on this day!!!
Titans = Rookie QB gets a welcoming party led by Suh and Wake. Just to much for the Titans.
Texans = might give the Texans the edge in Houston. Home team gets the edge. Texans D will keep game close, Miamis ability to move the ball will be the difference.
You see why people are smoking and drinking the Kool-Aid Freak (Ireland)? If you have any football knowledge you would understand this. Do I think they will go 6-0, probably not because it is the NFL, but I wouldn’t bet against, and I certainly am not going to tell anyone they are crazy if they were telling me that Miami will start 6-0. %-1 @ the worst is what I’m thiking, but I do have 6-0 in the back of my mind.
So, I guess you’ll be one of those band wagon jumpers come late October, and we will see you chime in and post some negative comment regardless if they are 6-0 or 5-1. Anything worse, and I guess you have a point. But, right now, your point is not valid!!!
Go Fins, undefeated going into the Patriots game!!!
Well said Dunner, this is the most talented team we have had in a decade or more and that is a fact. Can we win 10 plus games and get in the playoffs, I think so, but the pieces are there and I for one am excited to see the finished product on the field. This is a good time to be a phins fan, our roster is loaded with youth and talent, if we can make the playoffs this year, than we have the chance to be playoff team for the next 5 years
More important than 6-0 We need to omit to anyone we play…. fear!!!! We have a weakness early with a offensive-line needs to improve as the season progresses. The team should play with one point in mind… WIN!!!!! If we lose any games, learn from what we need to improve on, It”s not how you start, but where you end up at the End….!!!
This team is young and needs to learn how to finish games. On any given Sunday any team can win, but Miami does have more talent then these 6 teams and now they need to do it on the field and like you said Dan, they need to learn from their mistakes, and continue to improve as the season progresses
