Can Miami Start 6-0?

I just read an article that stated that the Miami Dolphins are going to start 6-0. That is a bold statement for a team that has not had a winning record since 2008 when they won the AFC East and the last time they made it to the playoffs. If they can go 6-0 to start the season, most Phin Fans would say that this would be a terrific way to set themselves up for a trip to the playoffs.

The main reason why this article said the Dolphins would go 6-0 to start the season was because of the list of starting Quarterbacks they would face in the each of the games.

1) Washington Redskins Kirk Cousins

2) Jacksonville Jaguars Blake Bortles

3) Buffalo Bills Matt Cassel or Tyrod Taylor or E.J. Manuel

4) New York Jets Ryan Fitzpatrick

5) Tennessee Titans Marcus Mariota

6) Houston Texans Brian Hoyer

I’ll tell you I don’t mean to be a homer, but looking at that list, and thinking about our suffocating Defensive Line, I would be disappointed if we did not at least go 5-1. There are not many starting QB’s in the league that the best sportsbooks online would rank lower than this bunch. Miami’s defense should be able to feast on these QB’s and rack up a bunch of sacks and turnovers.

Not only are these QB’s not even close to being as good as our very own Ryan Tannehill, but their teams are all mediocre or less than mediocre. If Miami wants to make the playoffs this year, they need to pull out a “W” against these types of “should beat” teams. These teams will be a good warm up before they start playing playoff contender teams like the Patriots, Cowboys, Eagles, Ravens, Chargers and Colts.

It is only preseason, but just from watching the starting team play and seeing the young and hungry energy on the sidelines during the games, it is clear that the culture in this organization is changing for the better. The talent level is clearly better than anything coach Philbin or Tannehill have had to work with in their previous years in Miami, and there is good reason to be excited and encouraged. However, the Dolphins must not take anything for granted, and even though on paper they should be able to win all of these games, they must do it on the field when it counts. Does the rest of the Miami Dolphins news fans think that 6-0 could be a reality, or is this just another mirage in the desert for thirsty Phin Fans?!
