Can Phins Push the Win Streak to Six?!

With a tough final leg, the Phins need to notch every ‘easy’ win remaining

The Miami Dolphins have won five in a row… and six out of the last seven games! Talk about a hot streak! It’s been a loooong times since Phins football has been been this good. It’s mostly been elite defense and special teams that have carried them on this streak. With a chance to match the Bills 7-3 record, they can’t let up on this level of play even bit. Even though, the Broncos are 3-6 playing at Mile High is never an easy task. If Miami stays focused and takes care of business, they’ll be fine because they are the better team, for sure. But, the term ‘trap game’ is around for a reason. The good news is Brian Flores is tireless in his demanding focus on the next game up.

Phins have what it takes to win, but they can’t sleep on Denver

The first key for Miami is continuing to play smart football. Brian Flores is in the running for Coach of the Year because he has Miami the 4th least penalized team in the NFL with 39 infractions and the 4th best turnover differential at +5 limiting. Basically, the Phins aren’t beating themselves. While this might sound basic, it’s is far easier said than done, especially with crazy season.

If nothing else, a high degree of discipline will win you plenty of games in the NFL. Smart football is the core reason why the Patriots were so successful over the last twenty years. But, add to this disciplined play, Miami also has excellent special teams. The effect of good special teams in getting a win can’t be understated. How many times have we lost to the Patriots because of their superior play on special teams over the years?

Special teams got the balling rolling against the Chargers

The Chargers game was the poster child for the Phins formula for success. A blocked punt on the first drive after a defensive three and out, set up the early lead… and Miami never looked back. Jakeem Grant had numerous quality punt returns that had Miami starting their drives close to mid field and even in Chargers territory.

Grant is having a special season isn’t he?! He’s certainly on track to the Pro Bowl Punt Returner… and maybe receiver, at some point, with the way he has played of late.

Then there is star special teamer Jason Sanders. Yes, he had his first miss of the season, but he has been a lights out Pro Bowl kicker all year long. Sanders has been outstanding this year and without him playing this good, Miami wouldn’t have six wins.

While he Phins have shown excellent play in all the fundamental aspects of football, they are more than that.

Miami is more than just a ‘steady Eddy’ team

In addition to smart football, Miami is also playing impact football. The defense continues to make big plays by generating sacks and 4th down stops. Miami also leads the league in first quarter-point differential and 5th in the league in overall point differential with a +69. They only trail the Bucs, Chiefs, Steelers, and Ravens, which are the top odds on favorites by the best pay per head services sites like www.AcePerHead.com. to win the Super Bowl.

Not too shabby at all!

Miami is doing what they haven’t done in ages by getting up early on teams and not squandering the lead. Tua has been able to take a kneel in the last 4 games, which includes his first appearance against the Jets! Now that’s being in control.

Can the Phins stay consistent?

Miami must continue to play at this high level and not give up a golden opportunity in beating a sub .500 Bronco team. Vegas opened up the Dolphins as a -2.5 favorite and now the line has moved up to -3.5. Again, playing on the road in Mile High is never an easy task, though. This game is a great test for their focus and ability to handle success. They’ll prove themselves to be true professionals by not letting off the gas against a beatable team.

The Broncos young QB in Drew Lock likes to throw the ball around the field and has attempted over 40 passes in his last 4 games. This plays right into Miami’s defensive strength of quality coverage. While Lock has some mobility, he’s not a real dual threat, so I highly expect the Dolphins defense to blitz him early and often and force the youngster to make some mistakes under pressure.

Flores will keep this team laser focused on a win this week, and the defense will set the tone, so Tua doesn’t have to be a superhero. Miami will be 7-3 heading into Week 12… and one step closer to the playoffs. Book it!

What are the rest of the Miami Dolphins News fans’ thoughts about the Phins chances to make it six in row?
