Can the Bungles Make Magic Happen for Phins?
Could the Bengals put Burrows in play for the Phins?
Everything you hear says ‘it’s a foregone conclusion that the Cincinnati Bengals will select LSU quarterback, Joe Burrow’. However, as the Miami Herald recently pointed out, what if the ‘Bungles’ surprise everyone and go with Tua instead or even deal the pick? In this scenario, it’s hard to not picture the Phins trading the farm.
Let’s remember that before this college football season started, Burrow was nothing more than a potential 3rd round QB prospect. On the other hand, Tua was the consensus #1 QB prospect in the nation penciled to be the first pick in the draft. Things sure do change fast in sports. Now, with Burrow’s meteoric rise after a record-setting season and Tua having two more surgeries, the script has flipped. But can the script flip again?
A few things to consider:
- Reports are Tua’s recovery has been as positive as can be expected and no one is denying his talent and character.
- Burrow said, ‘going #1 overall would be nice, but going to an organization that gives him the best chance of winning a Super Bowl is the most important’.
- Owner Mike Brown runs the Bengals with a ‘money first and winning second mentality’.
- Jordan Palmer (brother of Carlson) is Burrow’s throwing coach.
The questions plenty of fans and teams hope to end up true
- Could Carson be chirping in Burrow’s ear through Jesse?
- Is Burrow hinting that he doesn’t want to play for a team and organization like the Bengals?
- Could Burrow pull an Eli Manning and refuse to go to the Bengals if he was selected?
- What if the Bengals see the writing on the wall and decide to go with Tua instead of Burrow?
- Since winning isn’t the priority, maybe the Bengals feel they could get a draft haul for Burrow, save money with all the picks, and still draft a good QB prospect in Herbert or Tua at #5.
The Bengals organization and owner are notorious for not spending money to improve their chances of winning something meaningful. This will never change as long as Mike Brown owns the team. Ask Carson Palmer who said he learned ‘that it’s not about the players on the field, winning starts with the people at the top’. Carson signed an extension with the Bengals in part because Brown said he’d change the team’s M.O. and spend money to win. Brown lied and Carson wasted his best years with the Bengals.
I’m sure Burrow knows this and more through his throwing coach, Jesse Palmer. Burrow also knows that Stephen Ross isn’t afraid to spend on his team. This has to have his wheels at least turning on his options. Yes, despite all this it would be quite a shock if Burrow pulls an Eli or the Bengals pass on him. However, history has shown with the NFL draft and the Bungles anything is possible.
Phins fans should prepare for a trade-up
I know most of us Miami Dolphins News fans want no part of a trade-up. Unfortunately, we’re not making the decisions. And I hate to keep bringing it up, but one of the reasons why Grier and company accumulated all these extra picks was to have the ammunition to trade up if they weren’t holding the top pick in 2020. Miami holding pat at the #5 spot could be a bit too late to draft even Tua. Right or wrong, if the Phins believe either player is a franchise QBs it’s a good bet with the bitcoin sportsbook software sites that Miami would move up to get them if they could.
Yes, most likely it will all go as expected with Burrow at #1 and Tua at #5. And I’m certainly not advocating that the Phins should trade up. But, let’s be real: This franchise is starving for the ‘next’ Dan Marino and has a ton of draft picks, so be prepared for a trade up to select either player… just in case.
What are the rest of the Miami Dolphins news fans’ thoughts about how this will shake out come draft day?

Miami has 3 1st round picks and 2 second round picks=
1st round = Best at that position
1st round = Impeccable Physical and mental durability
1st round = Unquestionable Solid Character
2nd round = able to start/contribute/10 year prospect starting
2nd round = not a project player/projected 1st rounder but overlooked.
Pretty much nailed it.
Hello Admin and FinFans
I’m not saying who the Fins should draft.

yeah, he’s got a good show… like him. Eason is said to have work ethic issues… not for me if true.
Hello Admin and Dol-Fans
Very nice Article Admin!
Truth Is:
We had a plan prior to game one?
We thought we had a plan prior to winning more than 3 games?
We don’t have a plan after the last game?
This was Jimmy’s… been pretty dry on things to talk about, so finding a good one in a desert is much needed.
I have zero clue what they’ll do. I don’t know what will turn out to be the best move. But I do know trading up is the highest risk /reward and trading back the safest. We’ll see. How’s the tooth?
I hear you! Thanks for asking My tooth is much better I was fitted for a crown and it should be completed next week.
Dolphins WILL be trading up. Probably to the #3 spot. Even if a team jumps them to grab Tua at #2, the Dolphins will get the ‘consolation prize’ of Chase Young!!!
Then they will have to hope either Jordan Love or Jacob Eason falls to 18. (Hopefully it’s Love) Although the Dolphins have a plethora of picks, they can only afford to make one big splash and that is moving to the 3rd spot.
They need to keep as many 2nd and 3rd round picks as possible. Remember, they are still a year or two away from serious contention.
I, like Jimmy, am preparing for it. I’d prefer a more conservative approach, but whatareyougonna’ do? Whatever they do, I’ll be rooting like heck it’s a winner. Not high on Eason, there is a load of talk about his poor work ethic and slowness to digest a playbook. Who knows what is what though. Love has it all… the question is could he develop? I’d be fine with rolling the dice at 18 on him, especially if we trade back with the 5th.
“Although the Dolphins have a plethora of picks, they can only afford to make one big splash and that is moving to the 3rd spot.” My feeling exactly… Jimmy I think he’s secretly hoping they do even though he writes otherwise. He’s been QB crazy for a long time. I think I’m as psyched to see them build a good O-line as I for them to find a QB.
We are all shooting into the air… only time will tell what is what. Sure is exciting time though… just hope it’s even half a fun after all is said and done, JD!
