Cards Kick Off Phins Road to Hero or Goat!

The Miami Dolphins can’t afford even one more lose to a team they should beat if they want to save the 2024 Season. Maybe as little three more losses could break their playoffs hopes. Phins reaching ten wins is the only high percentage chance to make the post season and depending on tie breakers, even that might not be enough. Of course, if things break very, very right maybe nine wins could do the trick, but that’s a long shot given how things play out.

With 11 games left, the Phins must go 7-4 with more than a few tough games left on their schedule.

As tough as this is, we are in the 3rd year of the McDaniel regime, the 9th year of Grier being at the top of the food chain, and the 6th year of him being fully in charge. This team MUST and SHOULD overcome these tough odds based on all the investment prove themselves up to the task…

…or in my opinion, they should be canned.

The right group could turn this season around!

I don’t know if the Phins can right the ship even with the return of Tua. It is certainly within the realm of possibility that Miami can reach the post season, and I’m hoping they do. But given what we’ve witnessed so far, it isn’t a good bet with the best pay per head that they will.

Obviously, the floor for Dolphins owner Steven Ross to keep this team together and make a large segment of the Phins fans happy is a post season appearance. I want more than that. I want a post season win to keep Ross from tearing this thing down. I’m sure I’m in the minority.

All that matters to Chris Grier and Mike McDaniel is what will Steven Ross do?

Maybe Ross will give this regime a pass however it plays out? He could believe a great pick in the draft can get this regime over the hump. I don’t see this scenario as a winner at all.

Maybe Ross would be willing to keep this regime rolling as long as don’t totally crap out on the season and just get close to the postseason? I’m sure a large factor in his thinking would be all that’s been invested in McDaniel, Hill, Tua, and Waddle with pricey new contracts.

Who knows.

All we little fans can do is wait to see how this season plays out and how Ross plays the cards.

Sucks to be in this situation again.

Miami MUST beat Cards, but there’s a clear milestone…

I don’t like looking down the road at opponents to set the course for the Phins, but this is different situation because for me this is about regime change or not.

While there’s a lot a play obviously, there’s one make or break hurdle.

Dolphins are 2-4 and the Jets 2-5 heading into Week 8. We play the Jets Week 14 in our house and Week 18 in theirs. If they reach the post season or end up with a better record than us, it has to be clear, even for the staunchest Grier and McDaniel supporters, that we need to cut bait with them. I’m not saying the Phins will or won’t out race the Jets, but this this is a clear milestone that must be crossed for this regime to continue. No way the Jets should win this race down one more game.

While this has to be grounds for immediate expulsion of Grier and McDaniel, beating the Jets both weeks would go a long way towards justifying this team–even for reluctant me. Playing second fiddle to the Jets at this stage is a bridge too far, but I’d be drunk with ‘hatoraide’ turning them into the Jest this season.

Of course, even if we notch these wins over the Jets, Miami would still have to win 2 of 5 on the road vs. Bills, Rams, Texans, a Green Bay and a home game vs 49ers, while not dropping a ‘winnable game’ against ‘lesser opponents’ along the way.

This is a Herculean task for sure. It is also the type of response to adversity that says Grier, McDaniel and his players ARE the right guys for the job!

Can this 2024 Miami Dolphins pull it off? Or will they do what Dolphins teams have done for decades now?

It’s a long road to redemption and justification, but that road start with the Cards this week!

Let’s see what these guys are made of! Fingers crossed Go Phins!!!
