The Dolphins have been wishy-washy over the years
The Miami Dolphins said they were going into full rebuild mode…
… and by the they’re handling Free Agency they mean what they say.
Surprising.
Who actually thought they’d stick to the plan with a Super Bowl in Miami this year?
They didn’t spend big and let veterans walk, which is actually what you are supposed to do in a full rebuild.
The Dolphins are the big losers of the 2019 Free Agency period… good.
The loss of a generational player in Cameron Wake makes all of us at Phinsnews.com truly sad to see him go. But it’s all part of the new game plan: Out with old and in with the new generation.
Hopefully, this new generation is better than the old one.
Veterans Frank Gore, Danny Amendola, Ja’Wuan James, and Josh Sitton were told ‘no thanks’. Aging veterans aren’t the future of this team. But also some younger guys were dismissed as well. Leonte Carroo, Jake Brendel, and Mike Hull didn’t receive their tenders.
Two big price tag players in Ryan Tannehill and Robert Quinn
curiously remain.
DeVante Parker receiving an extension was a bigger surprise
The ‘big’ signings were both former Patriots players. Those guys are familiar with Coach Flores and the Patriots ‘winning culture’.
Let’s see if this actually end up the case.
The Dolphins signed a very good blocker in TE Dwayne Allen, which isn’t flashy… but it’s crucial. They also just signed DB Eric Rowe to a heavily performance-based contract.
What are the Dolphins going to do with all their savings?
The Dolphins have just over $25 million in cap space. Depending on the next couple of weeks, they could Free upwards of around $50 million on their Cap. This is all good news because the Dolphins team salary has been an issue for years. This is a good start at ditching bad contracts, giving them room to carry over extra cap space next year.
This extra cap space can be used to give new–and bigger–contracts to Howard and Tunsil who are the future of this team. These two players are excellent cornerstones to build off.
At least we can hope this will be what Miami does with their new found cap space.
Unfortunately, all the other teams in the AFCE have become better
It’s ‘tough swallow’ when you see our rivals like the Jets, Pats, and Bills make nice additions. Unfortunately, these teams both have Franchise Quarterbacks. The Jets and Bills have young ones ta’ boot.
The Phins have neither a young nor good Franchise Quarterback.
On paper, we are the red-haired stepchild… but don’t count this ginger out just yet.
While it’s good that the Dolphins are actually sticking to their plan… the best PPH sportsbook program like Ace Per Head, on the market is predicting the Dolphins will be vying for the bottom of the barrel this year.
Yeah, they predicted this same outcome last season… and we ‘rose’ to mediocrity. But, 2019 looks like this time it will actually come true.
I can live with that IF this gives us the chance to select one of the top QBs in the 2020 Draft. The 2020 draft is expected to have a superb QB draft class that may finally help us find the right one… finally.
Will we find the right one is the question.
What are the rest of the Miami Dolphins News fans thoughts about what the Dolphins have done so far this offseason?
