A Dolphins Post Season was viewed as a fantasy by most, especially after a 1-4 start.
Right now, it’s a fantasy season of good times for the Miami Dolphins and their fans.
Funny though, it feels like just yesterday that the Dolphins were 1-4. I can clearly remember blowing a mental gasket after the Titans game, and started to question QB Ryan Tannehill and, to a certain extent, Head Coach Adam Gase — heck, I was even looking way ahead to the 2017 NFL Draft.
It’s amazing how history can turn on a dime. It would be wise for me to remember that going forward with this regime.
The best pay per head bookie service in the world predicted the Dolphins Regular Season Win total at 7 games and finishing dead last in the AFC East.
What the hell does anyone really know?
Life and fate is what you make it — that is, if you have the strength turn the worm.
And these Dolphins have that kind of mettle.
Well now that Coach Gase and the 2016 Dolphins have proved just about everyone wrong, the question now is, how good will this season be?
The Dolphins aren’t popping champagne bottles or celebrating their success? Instead, the pin-point focused Gase has only one thing on his mind: the next game against the New England Patriots.
This Dolphins team doesn’t see a win against the Pats as a fantasy.
Again we are hearing ‘no chance’, ‘blow-out,’ because this time, the ‘Patriots are serious about this game’.
The line is currently at -10 for the road team Patriots — that’s saying Miami is going to get their hats handed to them.
Talk about the usual no respect for the Dolphins.
The Dolphins are a 10 win football team and are playing at home, where they are 6-1, and they are still a double digit underdogs to the ‘darling’ Patriots. For this Dolphins team, it’s just more fuel for their fire to play hard and play together.
A win by Miami would be their 11th victory of the season, and possibly it could give them the number 5 seed — if it’s combined with a Chiefs loss.
While the 5th seed in the AFC playoffs would be nice as it would send Miami to face the Houston Texans, let’s keep Gase’s same focus: it’s all about beating the Patriots.
It’s no fantasy that the Dolphins beat the Pats last year in Week 17.
The Dolphins have proved the naysayers wrong this season, and there is no reason to totally discount them now. Haven’t they been the biggest underdog story of the season with a Rookie head coach, countless starters getting injured, and an 8-2 record in games that have been decided by a touchdown or less?
This is a team that has found a different way to win, week in and week out, over the last 2 and half months. It’s basically been playoffs for the last 2 months, because they’ve had little room on their record to absorb any more losses. So that, combined with the lesson of the Ravens game, will have them ready.
While many are counting them out, we fans shouldn’t. Because, just when you do, they prove you wrong. This game against the Patriots could have them once again beating the odds. Go Fins!!!
