Dolphins Playoffs Start With New York Jets

There are no guarantees, but winning the last three games give Miami the next best thing.

There are no guarantees for the Playoffs, but winning the last 3 games give Miami the next best thing.

With the Broncos having a brutal last 3 games, Miami has a real shot at the Playoffs.

Okay Fin Fans, we couldn’t ask for much more than this: Miami Dolphins have a real shot at the Playoffs.

No, it’ not a pipe dream — maybe a long shot — but, it’s not  pipe dream. I think even the most suspicious of fans can agree on that.

The Denver Broncos may have the last spot in the playoff seeding, but the Dolphins are next up after that and are hot on their heels.

With Denver having three very tough games, New England, Kansas City, and Oakland, there’s a real chance for them to lose at least 1 of those games.

That means if Miami sweeps, they will hurdle the Broncos and become the sixth seed.

Are you onboard yet? No? Even, the best at pay per head sportsbook are starting to believe the odds.

Now, I know this won’t be an easy task, but after watching Ryan Tannehill‘s knee survive that brutal hit, and Mike Hull looking like Zach Thomas junior, I can believe anything’s possible this season with Miami.

I spent the whole of Monday in flight on a plane, and only found out of ‘kneeraculous’ event in a news flash, and I just couldn’t stop laughing. It, like much, if this 2016 season, has been a remarkable one for sure. And not only is it a minor miracle for a good guy in Tannehill, it is also one more highlight in this incredibly unpredictable season.

Dolphins Playoffs aren’t as long of a long shot as you might think.

And isn’t it about time things go our way — now if only the refs would follow suit.  But, tackling that elephant in the room is an article for another day.

So here we are with Matt Moore as the starting QB for the next two games, at the very least. But with the Jets and Bills being flawed teams, they are both very winnable games. The only caveat is both games are away games for Miami, and that can bring a whole host of problems…and bad weather.

But, Miami’s decision to be a run focused team with Jay Ajayi, this “new” style of offense can mitigate much of the environmental factors. But, let’s hope that it’s not a repeat of the 2002 Ricky Williams game that snowy day up in Buffalo?

Let’s stay focused and positive, right?!

Everything starts this week against the New York Jets. It will be a short week and this will be extra-tough with a new QB. Adam Gase and Moore’s rapport come gameday will be crucial. Gase needs to dial in with a bullseye on what Moore does best, and Moore needs to play controlled football without a hero complex and limit his turnovers to zero….if not less.

With Matt Forte‘s knee injury, Bilal Powell will get the start. He racked up 145 yards against the 49ers, but on 29 carries and 19 yards being his longest. He isn’t a home-run threat — but appears to kill with a thousand cuts. So, Miami’s run D will be front and center — again and again and again.

Then of course there is Tom Petty…err, I mean Bryce Petty. He is raw and an unknown quantity, but he can move and create outside the pocket. Mobile Qb’s have been a problem for Miami, but more in picking up yards over the line of scrimmage than pushing the ball down the field — and that’s not Petty’s game.

Miami is nearly in control of their Playoff hopes — nearly.

So, this will come down to Dolphins turn-overs and ability to stop the run. They make it happen there and limit bone-headed plays, and they will have a great chance at winning.

Then it will be all about Pats v.s Broncos. Yeah, I’m already struggling with who to root for — maybe a tie? Cold hard truth is, this will end up the best season since 2008. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: get on board. Playoffs or not, this is 2016 season is one to be proud of with the silver lining of a bright future. And you never know, you might also have some Dolphins games in January as a cherry on top! So break out your aqua and orange and enjoy. Go Fins!!!
