Gearing Up For A Competitive Training Camp

Training Camp starts this week… the action is about to begin
Training Camp is very close

Today only the Rookies are reporting, but on the 24th the whole team shows up to practice for the much anticipated inaugural Training Camp of Coach Flores. It will be the first real chance for the fans and the media to really see the direction that this team is headed in under Coach Flores.

I’ve been off from Phinsnews for over a month… so, I for one am chomping at the bit to dive into Miami Dolphins news.

Did Ross finally make a winning move?

We’ve been told that the main thing to look for this training camp is an open competition for all starting positions. Flores and his staff have stressed throughout the offseason that the best player will play and there will be no favoritism for Veterans.

This is definitely a welcome change and will be tested the most at the QB position.

So with that being said, July 24th start the first litmus test to see if this staff walks the talk on open competition for all positions… or not. From everything we know about Coach Flores at the moment, I believe this will be the case and I am excited about it.

This team is young… and likely to be younger at the end of camp. According to the best bookie software services, the Phins aren’t going to be a good football team. Only time will tell. The first step in proving the naysayers wrong starts with Training Camp. Flores must have as much competition at all positions as possible and get all the players that make the Regular Season team buy into the program 100%.

Sounds basic, but so far, it’s been rarely done over the last 2 decades.

Phins have enough Cap space to make whatever cuts they want to help the future.

True competition forces players to raise the level of there game or fall by the wayside. Anyone that isn’t ready to be in a dog fight each and every day for a spot on the 53 man roster is going to get quickly weeded out of this organization.

At least that’s the talk from Flores and Co.

This season is going to be an uphill battle, there’s no question about it. The first season of every new regime is full of growing pains. Also, on paper, this team isn’t a talented one with a large room for error. However, talent can only get you so far. You still need that unrelenting desire to push yourself past your limits and that never say die work ethic to always get better. A team that is full of ultra-competitive players with a no-quit attitude, is a team that can often beat a more talented team.

Just look at the Patriots team from last year. On paper, they weren’t the most talented team in the league. But, they have the elite coaching and competitive desire from every player on the roster. This had them being better than everyone they faced… more talented or not.

Can Flores even bring 75% of that?

To be fair, it also doesn’t hurt to have Brady.

As M.J. said in the last article, ‘no veteran’s starting position is safe’.

It will be exciting and interesting to see which players will utilize this open competition to their advantage… And if Flores has the guts to make the hard calls.

Some players on this roster are going to surprise on the upside… others will unfortunately disappoint. Hopefully, there is in an upgrade when all is said and done. Only a couple of more days until the story begins to unfold.

Who are the rest of the Miami Dolphins News fans hoping to see crack the starting lineup, or earn a spot on the roster?
