Go for Broke Miami Dolphins!!!

Dolphins must find the right offensive mind to lead them going forward

The Miami Dolphins are still deep in the process of doing their thorough heading coach search. At the moment, the emerging favorite is Vance Joseph. This is a bit ironic because he was already in Miami in 2016 as the defensive coordinator and is clearly considered a defensive mind coach. Maybe it’s me, but he sounds like the defensive-minded Flores.

I think most will agree that Flores already proved he was a better head coach than Van Joseph, who went 11 and 21 in two seasons as the head coach in Denver. So at best Joseph feels like a lateral move… but I guess you never know. Hopefully, we don’t get a chance to find out.

Jim Harbaugh is the winning ticket!!

While the ship has sailed on Flores, that doesn’t mean we should settle for lateral moves. Instead, we should be going for broke. Unfortunately, this current head coaching market looks extremely weak to me. Most are just coordinators on teams that did well with some of the most talented players in the league on the roster to execute for them.

Just look at OC Brian Daboll for example on the Buffalo Bills. This guy has been coaching in the league for over 20 years and has been an offensive coordinator with Browns 2009-2010, Dolphins 2011, and Chiefs 2012… and all those offenses frankly sucked. Now he’s being heralded as the greatest thing since sliced bread because he helped coach-up Josh Allen. Sorry, but this sounds like when we got Philbin, who was offensive coordinator of the Packers and had Aaron Rodgers to do all the work.

Put it this way: Josh Allen is still going to be a stud next year with or without Daboll.

Ross has said he didn’t want to be the one to take Jim Harbaugh away from Michigan. That’s the one and only coach he should actually be going full steam ahead for. He would be the one guy that this fan base would say, ‘ok… this move we can see as an upgrade over Flores’.  But that’s the problem with Ross, he doesn’t have that killer instinct to win at all costs. He wants to win but doesn’t want to take the best coach available from a college because he gives that college a ton of money. Who cares! You are the owner of the Dolphins, not Michigan University. The Dolphins franchise is dying to win and be relevant again… PUT them first.

Ross has tossed the dice over and over and got snake eyes

Go get Harbaugh! Then don’t stop there. Once you sign him, go and get Aaron Rodgers! Sure I know this sounds like a pipe dream, however, after Rodgers’s early exit in the playoffs, the best bookmaking software providers are betting he will be playing somewhere else next season. Ironically Miami is the 4th favorite on the list at just +450 with Denver being the number one favorite at +200.  If you build it, they will come. If you get Harbaugh, you can bet you can waive him in front of Rodgers like a shiny new toy and maybe sway him down to the more enjoyable climate and location to live and play–with no state income taxes!

Sure, I know I’m reaching here. But Miami needs to stay away from this endless cycle of hiring coordinators as their next head coach. They must go with the proven winner in a current head coach like Harbaugh. Then put the cherry on top and get him Rodgers with the $75 million in cap space they have. Do this and you’ll get the fan base excited again… after you last ripped many of their hearts out with by firing of Flores.
