Gutsy Phins Beat Colts in Indy
While these 2019 Phins lack talent, they have a ton of fight, discipline, and are developing
Despite key injuries at the quarterback and receiver position, the Indianapolis Colts were billed as 10 point favorites against the Dolphins. Things didn’t play out as was expected. The 1-7 Phins pulled out a hard-fought win over the 5-3 Colts leaving both fanbases in shock.
Miami entered the game as the most disciplined team in the NFL, and it was that iron discipline that was the backbone for their 16-12 victory in Indianapolis. Ultimately though, it was the three turnovers generated by the secondary that was the deciding factor.
How crazy was the interception by Steven Parker?!
Many poked fun at the T.N.T wall runs at practice. While we don’t know if these runs made a difference or not, it’s clear that Brian Flores’ vision of a disciplined team has become manifest.
While there’s a long way to go, the laughter of the Dolphins franchise is slowly dying.
“First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win”
Despite missing Hilton and Brisset, the Colts were a tough out
At home, the Colts’ potent defense, offensive line, and running back were expected to beat up the Phins and win. Considering the poor odds that the pay per head sportsbook sites like AcePerHead.com gave Miami to win, Phins fans should be proud of this upset. With back-to-back wins, Miami has completely stepped out of the ‘tank’ and worst team ever conversation. The question now isn’t how high their draft picks will be, but how many games they will win. And that’s the way it should be.
With 5 of their last 7 games against the Bills, Browns, Jets, Giants, and Bengals, Miami has some very winnable games left. My goal has always been six wins for this season. Six wins with a gutted team gives plenty of credence that Flores is an above-average coach.
While I lost faith after the Skins game, only a fool would doubt Flores’ intentions now. While many teams are quitting and growing weaker, this squad is growing stronger. Getting five or six wins is again my goalpost. Yes, this will push them farther from Young, Tua, and Burrow, but would our beloved Don Shula ever think of draft status over wins?
If the Front Office is the right one, they’ll find the right quarterback without needing the #1 Overall.
Brian Flores’ tight ship versus Adam Gase’s helter-skelter
The Adam Gase era was noted for ‘sloppy play’, and this foundation of quicksand mired the regime. They beat themselves more often than not. So far, the Flores regime is quite the contrary. Miami is developing the skill of being disciplined and patient enough to ‘allow’ opposing teams to beat themselves… instead of beating themselves. This a key ingredient for a championship team…
… but a talent roster is equally crucial.
If the talent base can be increased while maintaining this type of hard play and discipline, then the Miami Dolphins franchise will pull up from its two-decade-long nosedive. More and more, as Flores coaches up his team, the ball is moving squarely into Chris Grier and Marvin Allen’s court. And with all these picks that Miami has acquired, there aren’t any excuses for the Front Office not to succeed.
When you take a step back, the future is looking brighter than it has in a long time.
Dolphins wins making the loons come out
But, even though the ‘tank narrative’ is starting to head in a more positive direction…
.. there are media holdouts.
Trey’s response to the Phins win last week.
Trey’s response to the Phins this week.
I never use ‘swear words’ in my articles and try to be as ‘professional’ as I can… but this guy might be the biggest a-hole out there. It’s sad that this jerk is so invested in his ego that he’d rather double and triple down rather than walk back his ‘tank talk’.
Hey, Trey, just own up because your hole is getting deeper.
On the second thought, don’t, Trey. It will make watching you swallow the ‘extra’ much more fun.
There’s still almost half a season left
Well, here we are with a record of 2-7. If the 49ers lose tonight, it’s smooth sailing for a while. How many more can we get in these last seven games? This second half of the season should be much more fun than the first half… and then comes the draft! Go Phins!!!

I have been pretty hard on the Dolphins and the coaching staff. I want to compliment them on winning two games in a row! We hate the Jets! The colts were beat up but a win is a win and coach Flores (notice i didn’t call him the linebacker coach) is improving. He has a bunch of bottom dwellers playing solid football. I saw lots of old habits be left behind. This very evident on special teams. The defense is playing much better and are using their heads.
WE’VE GOT 4 OR 5 GAMES WE CAN WIN with these mutts! They are starting to believe in themselves and that is a good thing. They do not quit and that is a very good thing.
Now, I have to complain about the officiating! How is it that some clown makes head to head hard contact with Fitzmagic but we don’t get a flag. Then, much later, the concussion inspection team demands that Fitzmagic is pulled at a critical time in the game so they can say he is Okay. So Is this a way to keep the DOLPHINS from scoring or did the refs screw up and fail to flag a dangerous hit on our quarterback? It’s not the first time the refs have dissed Flores on calls. COME ON MAN! Give Flores a break!
“(notice i didn’t call him the linebacker coach)” I did!!!!!!
“I saw lots of old habits be left behind. ” This is so true… still early though, but you can’t dismiss the growth.
“WE’VE GOT 4 OR 5 GAMES WE CAN WIN with these mutts! They are starting to believe in themselves and that is a good thing. They do not quit and that is a very good thing.” If he went 6 or 7 wins this year I bet he gets a few votes for coach of the year.
“Now, I have to complain about the officiating! ” Some of the worst in all pro sports. Why does this rarely, if ever, happen to the Pats? I don’t want to dig to deep into this it might shatter the illusion.
I still hold to 6 wins. 5 would be acceptable too with all the changes right before the season. Imagine if this is who Flores is and he gets some talent?! I gave up on who he was after that Skins game, but he proved me wrong. I’m glad he did. Most Dolphins coaches have proved wrong for believing in them… so far, Flores is the first in a long time that proved me wrong for not believing in him. And I’m damn happy about that, Van… because that’s quality leadership!
The Dolphins played a good game against the Colts Sunday and won. Good job in winning the Game.
Does Coach Flores have the vision required to take this team to the top? I believed that the Management,Coaches and the Owner have this vision and the jury is still out. A coach must see what the expert cannot see and make it happen. Example when everyone could not see the gifts but the Owner,Coaches and Management did!

Example: When the experts were wrong, the Dolphins must follow suite, when Tua and Burrow’s is out of reached see the Jalen Hurst there!

Admin and Dolphins fans the draft coming up is the Dolphins future: Failure not to draft the Best QB for the Dolphins and the Best R/B you must have a pair of the Best not maybe but the Best along with the rest. Remember New England for two Decades has had their QB and we have not??? So don’t think we are getting to the top with a maybe QB? Its not going to happen.
Honestly, I hope if Tua, Burrow or Young isn’t in play that they trade back even into the second round and keep stacking picks. If they do, they will eventually be in a position to get ‘THE’ QB. A team that has great median talent is better than one with greater height and lows. It might take a bit longer to reach the top on this course, but it will be a better team with longer staying power.

These Dolphins wins means what?
Trading away the accumulated picks to get lower in the draft?
This feels like a Ted Ginn Drafting experienced coming up?
Every key player traded away could not performed in Miami are doing fine playing for other teams in the league.
A. Some players will be hard to replaced:
The second-year safety, obtained from Miami in September for a first-round pick, picked off a pass for the third consecutive game. And he scored again, too. A week after his touchdown on a 96-yard interception return helped defeat the Colts, Fitzpatrick went 43 yards with the return of a Goff fumble in the second quarter. He makes it sound simple. But Haden, a 10th-year veteran, vouches for Fitzpatrick’s football savvy, which is one reason he so often finds himself in the right spot. He’s become increasingly comfortable, as he grasp of the playbook has evolved to the point where he’s now calling the checks on the back end.
Haden insists Fitzpatrick is further along that most second-year players. He said, “He’s like a veteran.”
When the complement was relayed, Fitzpatrick told USA TODAY Sports, “I’ll take that from Joe. That means a lot coming from him.”
Why trade off your talented players this season and trade away your accumulated draft picks to get lower in the draft?
Focus: We Need to draft a QB to lead this team out of two decades of Dolphins nonsense! Project QB’s will ensure Flores is gone before 3 years. The Fans cannot handle 36 months of excuses??? What is the Sense of allowing the Jets, Bengals, Washington or Atlanta to have 1st picks? Then give them your accumulated picks for one of their draft position?

Minkah is a very good player, but he lacks character. He could have handled the assignments given him, but he wanted to shine more than his willingness to serve the team. He is talented, but when would that nature pop up if he was given his way? Look at Eric Rowe. Now he might have moved inside because he fears losing his job, but whatever, he did and is doing very well. Building on a me player is risky because you never know when it will crop up. Also, a leader must be selfless. If he was going to be the cornerstone of the D, how could they sell selflessness and ask others to play whatever role asked if he wouldn’t? This team is being built on a vision of team… the philosophy can’t be lip service to work. Fitzpatrick is a selfish player at heart. He said he could ‘figure out’ all his roles… yet McCain and Rowe can. Something didn’t jive. Whens the last time you heard of a second year rook demanding to be traded? That is a sure sign of a selfish player and someone pretending to be something he isn’t. I’ll miss the talent. But, when you think about it how much does he remind you of Saban? Saban was talented, but a selfish man.
