Headed butted out of Miami

Phins NewsOn the first episode of Hard Knocks featuring the Miami Dolphins training camp, there was a scene when Chad Johnson was leaving the practice facilities, and said that on his day off he was going to get arrested.  Even though he said it with a cold stone look on his face, it was obviously meant to be a joke.  Turns out, the joke is on Chad, because not only did he get arrested for supposedly head butting his wife after an argument about a receipt found in his pocket for a box of condoms, but last night he was informed that he was being cut from the Miami Dolphins.

In all honesty, after seeing him drop a critical third down pass on the Dolphins first drive of the game, combined with seeing youngsters Roberto Wallace and Julius Pruitt run rampant all over the field, I am not disappointed by the move.  The only thing that is truly disappointing about the decision to get rid of Chad, is that phins news fans will no longer be entertained by his hysterical antics on Hard Knocks.  (excluding tomorrows show.)  In the end someone will pick up Chad, maybe a team like the New York Jets, Baltimore Ravens, or Oakland Raiders, but sports gambling fans can wager that Chad is a long way off from putting up pro bowl numbers like he once did in Cincinnati.

The question for phins news fans is, should the Miami Dolphins look to sign another veteran wide receiver?  There has been chatter among fans about taking a look under the hood of Miami native Plaxico Burress.  Even though he is damaged goods, at least he would be a boon for our red zone offense.  He is a big tall WR who has a knack for scoring touchdowns, proving this last year after scoring 8 TD’s for the Jets.  I would be all for the move, but I really don’t see the Miami Dolphins management pulling the trigger, let alone even giving him a tryout.  At the moment the Dolphins brass seems comfortable with the receivers on their roster, and may wait until teams must have their final cuts in for the 53 man roster, until they start scouring around for edible acorns.
