Here We Go: Phins Officially Start 2020 Season

With the 2019 Super Bowl completed, the 2020 Season officially kicks

Here we go Phins fans! With the 2019 Super Bowl over, the Miami Dolphins 2020 Season has officially started. This is the Dolphins’ most important offseason since Don Shula’s big Free Agency spend in 1995.

The 2020 offseason will be even a bigger deal for Phins fans.

Yes, it is bigger.

Win or lose, the owner makes boatloads of money and the staff and players get wheel barrels full of cash. Come what may, those involved directly in the game win at least on a financial level. On the other hand, fans do this for entertainment and over the last two decades, the Dolphins have rarely been relevant beyond the first few weeks of the season. Now, I love watching Phins games and breaking down the film regardless of the outcome. But, I remember how much more fun it was when the Dolphins were a factor deep into the playoffs most seasons. Some Phins have never been a part of this type of fun–ever. This long lack of success is why many Phins fans are inspecting this year’s ‘tea leaves’ with a microscope.

Recent bits of Phins News
Everything counts, but the draft will count the most

Ross’s strong reservations about Tua because of injuries could be a smokescreen or the truth. You can’t believe anything that is said in the preseason, so take it all with a pound of salt. Still, it does bring some hope that the Phins brain trust considers trading up for Tua to be “utter madness” (Thanks, Eduardo)!

This is the most crucial of all the news because Miami sits in the catbird seat in this draft despite not owning the #1 Overall Pick. If the Phins FO can’t make serious hay this offseason, then you can bet with the best bookie software that this regime won’t last long. Yes, they have a ton of cap space for Free Agents, but good teams are built in the draft. Either this regime can draft or they can’t, so Miami must nail the 2020 Draft to have any real success going forward. At the very least Miami must find one elite player and a bunch of quality players in the draft… unless they trade back to pick up future selections.

We all knew Ryan Fitzpatrick would be back.

Ryan Fitzpatrick has confirmed he will play football in the 2020 Season. What we don’t know is how will the Dolphins treat this decision? Do they see him as a 1-year stop-gap or more? Miami has Josh Rosen and will draft a quarterback at some point. Whatever their view on Fitz is it isn’t a franchise breaker. The only way it could end up a problem is if they don’t draft a QB this year, Rosen doesn’t grow, and Fitzpatrick flops. Still, this scenario would put Miami in a position to draft a top QB in 2021… But, who wants this outcome?

Zach was snubbed!

Zach Thomas not making the 2020 Hall of Fame class has zero bearings on the Dolphins 2020 Season, but it has a big impact on most Phins fans who watched him play. As a heavy underdog who exploded on the scene, Zach endeared himself to Phins fans in a unique way. Zach was the leader of the Phins defense and it was mostly the defense that made watching Dolphins football fun during his tenure. So, when Zach finally gets into the Hall of Fame, it will be a great day of celebration for him… and his many fans.

Let’s hope next year is the year Zach gets his due.

Okay, here we go, folks. Buckle up! This offseason will be huge… one way or the other. Go Phins!!!
