Hill Bends the Knee to Phins & Tua!

As the 2025 NFL season approaches, Miami Dolphins fans are witnessing a notable shift in Tyreek Hill’s approach to the game—one that could have a significant impact on the team’s offensive output. And whether it was Tua’s stance forcing him or his need to get more shelf life out of his career or a little of both, Hill openly admitted many failings. Hill admitted today, he didn’t know the playbook well enough all these years and didn’t take notice and that has changed.

Whatever you think about Tua, he played it right and put Hill in a corner and that’s good leadership.

Hill has had it all except attention to detail

Hill, who has long been known for his explosive playmaking and unmatched speed, recently made headlines with comments about finally “taking notes,” showing up on time for practice, and finally understanding the Miami Dolphins’ offensive system.

Crazy, zany stuff, right?

For years, Hill’s incredible athleticism has spoken for itself. But as he enters his fourth year with the Dolphins, it seems the wide receiver is focusing more on the mental side of the game–finally. In an interview, Hill openly discussed how he’s been putting more effort into understanding the finer details of the playbook and being more disciplined in terms of preparation.

“I’m really taking notes now,” Hill said, revealing that he’s making a concerted effort to get on the same page with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and the coaching staff. This shift in mindset is significant for a player of Hill’s caliber, who has always relied on his physical talent to make plays. By committing to understanding the nuances of the Dolphins’ offense, Hill is positioning himself to make an even bigger impact in 2025 and commanding more capital if the Phins move off him next year.

Tua didn’t play nice, and it was the right move

This change comes at a pivotal moment in the relationship between Hill and Tagovailoa. Tagovailoa recently stated that his connection with Hill is “a work in progress,” indicating that while the two have shown flashes of brilliance on the field, there’s still room to grow. It’s clear that Hill’s increased focus on the playbook and his commitment to being on time for practice are signs that he’s ready to take their relationship with Tua and the team to the next level.

There were some who didn’t like how Tua played it with Hill to the media. Many former players loved it and so should every Phins fan too.

We wanted leadership from our quarterback, and we received it. I’m not saying Tua won’t or will get injured this year. I’m not saying Tua is or isn’t our franchise quarterback of the future. What I am saying is that this dysfunctional franchise needed this type of leadership desperately. Whatever Tua is or isn’t, you can bet with the best pay per head that how he handled Tyreek was exactly what was needed for an overentitled superstar coasting on his Hall of Fame talents.

Fans are right to feel optimistic about this storyline.

Hill’s newfound commitment to learning the system and his determination to be on the same page with Tua could be the key to unlocking a more consistent and explosive offense in 2025. The key to it all is whether this relationship continues to evolve and Hill is serious about his commitment especially in the tough times. At the very least Hill being his best will enhance a tarnished blue chip so the Phins can get a better return if they decided to trade him in the offseason.

I don’t know what will become of the Phins 2025 Season, but I do know I loved how Tua handled it and, at least on the surface, how Hill has responded. Go Phins!!!
