How Will Preston Williams Fare in 2020?

Preston Williams was in the running for the 2019 Rookie of the Year

In recent years, the Phins have had plenty of success at finding hidden gems in the undrafted free agency market. Just look at the 2019 Super Bowl for a quick example. One of the biggest player makers in that game was RB Damien Williams, who Miami signed as an undrafted free agent in 2014. Last year, Chirs Grier again robbed the league by stealing ultra-talented UDFA WR Preston Williams for pennies on the dollar.

The question now is, what will Williams do this season?

As a 5-star recruit coming out of High School, great things were expected of Williams in college. While he delivered, disciplinary issues caused NFL teams to take Williams off their draft boards, and he went undrafted. Miami quickly scooped him up with a song and a dance.

After making serious noise in training camp, Williams earned a roster spot and rose to the starting lineup. In a spectacular 8 game stretch, Williams had more production than any pass catcher on the Phins roster. With an excellent PFF grade of 67.7. Williams was also having one of the best seasons of any 2019 rookie receiver. On pace for a 1,000-yard season, Williams had 32 catches for 428 yards and 3 touchdowns by midseason.

… until he was injured.

After Williams went down the lights went on for DeVante Parker and he had a monster second half of the season. So, the good news is that Miami potentially has two #1 wide receivers on the roster. If both players can continue their 2019 form, Chan Gailey will have something special with Parker and Williams.

The bar should be set high for Williams after what he showed last season. That is as long as Williams can fully recover, which he is on schedule to do. — Advantages of Participating in Pay Per Head Casino Services.

DeVante Parker and the West Coast offense will help Williams succeed

Can both Williams and Parker crack the 1,000 yards receiving mark this season?

Gailey likes the West Coast spread offensive style and with two stud receivers, Miami could have a potent air attack. So, I’m super excited to see how it plays out on offense because the wide receiver position is clearly one of our most talented positions on the roster. With either Fitzpatrick or Tua throwing the rock, the Phins have the chance of having their best passing production in years.

Sure, it will come down to health considering that Williams is coming off an injury, and Parker’s first full 16-games season was last season. Still, if even one can be a game-breaker, the Phins are in a great position. If both can stay consistent, then look out! A huge plotline of this season is can these two very talented receivers stay healthy at the same time and blow the top of NFL defense in 2020?
