Jesse Davis Gets Extension & Antonio Brown A Pat

Davis getting an extension puts a smile on my face… Brown a Pat makes me sick

The news that Jesse Davis received a contract extension through 2022 put a smile on my face. Given all the negativity surrounding the Dolphins recently, this is a nice story of someone pulling themselves up by their bootstraps. I knew this regime would extend Davis… eventually, but with all the recent player movement, I’m glad it’s official.

Davis fits Brian Flores’ mold of a hard-working and big player who can fill multiple roles. It was destiny that Flores and Davis would be a thing.

Yes, I am a bit emotionally invested in Davis, who was Phinsnews Adopted Player of the Year in 2017. From his first preseason game, he had me at hello...

… And I haven’t shut up about him since.

But given Jesse Davis’ contract of $15 million, with $8.5 million guaranteed, $4 million as a signing bonus, this move is a winner whether you are a believer like me or just see him as quality 2nd tier player.

Beyond my fandom, I do expect Davis to make strides this season in a scheme that’s far more linemen friendly than what he’s played in over the last two seasons under Gase. I also think he is more suited for the Tackle position than Guard.

This nice story could end up a good one if Davis improves his game a step or two more.

I have a feeling Davis looked good at Left Tackle this week in practice and this may have prompted the extension.

Add one more storyline to tomorrow’s big day.

Then there is the awful news that Antonio Brown is now a Patriot

The thought of it makes me wretch.

With all the moves the Patriots made on Defense and now Brown on Offense, the worst-case scenario of the Dolphins going 0-16 and the Pats 16-0 is haunting me.

Anyone know an exorcist!

The Patriots are now as loaded up with talent as they were in 2007. You can bet with the pay per head bookie sites like www.AcePerHead.com that it will take a miracle for them not to make the Super Bowl… AGAIN. I hate to make knee-jerk reactions, but Brown and Brady will be very potent. To add insult to injury, they will be all the rave from the media.

If the Dolphins really tank, their failure will be tirelessly compared to the Pats success, week in and week out.

Is this some karmic backlash if the planned tank is on?

Antion Brown is an unmitigated raving narcissist and Robert Kraft busted for prostitution… and their reward is success. Is there no justice?

The Patriots and Dolphins ending 2019 as polar opposites may be too cruel to bear. Let’s hope and pray Brown does Brown and screws things up…

Given his first time at LT and had the D with their ears pinned back most of the game… not to bad. Despite all the talk they ranked 25th in protect %. Obviously not great, but that’s about where they were most of last year.

Can we get all of them? This will be an interesting year… Jones already seems to be a thorn. Likely the leader in the “I quit movement”…

    Way to Go Jesse!

Dolphins offensive lineman Jesse Davis has earned a nice pay increase. ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweets that Miami has signed the 27-year-old to a three-year, $15MM extension. The deal includes $8.5MM guaranteed. As an exclusive rights free agent, Davis will earn a $645K salary in 2019.

The 2015 undrafted free agent out of Idaho spent the first year-plus of his career with the Seahawks and Jets before finally finding a home in Miami. He made the Dolphins’ 53-man roster following the 2017 preseason, and he’s proceeded to appear in 32 games (26 starts) over the past two seasons.

Well it’s game day and I’ll be heading to the stadium formerly known as “Joe Robbie” in a little while to tailgate before going in to watch the game.
Amidst all the news of the past 24 hours, I totally agree with giving Jesse Davis the extension. As far as AB now being a Pat, I really don’t care. That may have strengthened them but on the other hand, the cancer could take over and be a disaster. Here’s hoping for the latter.
At the end of the day, our Dolphins just need to handle our business.
    Go Dolphins! Upset the Ravens.

I noticed your post as the game started… was going to replay at Half Time… ouch. I was too bummed to say anything. I did get peeped up after a bunch of players wanted to quit after the game… you know Jones and his 25 mill were on that bandwagon… The lack of off tackle run defense caught me by surprise. Baker played a big part in that… he missed a load of pull keys. Pats are looking too good… this week will be… errr, interesting 🙂
