Jimmy Bourbon Predicts Top 5 Picks

Jimmy Bourbon imitates Carnac the Magnificent & predicts the Top 5 picks

With all the players that Miami traded away to gain three 1st Round picks, Phins fans are dying to see the results of the 2020 NFL Draft. With a little over a week away, rumors, theories, and smoke screens are hitting their peaks. In truth, it’s anyone’s guess what will end up happening. But, with that being said, here’s the ‘Jimmy Bourbon Top 5 Pick forecast’.

This is exactly how it will go! You can book it with the best bookie software providers… if you’re using someone else’s money… and they don’t mind getting paid back.

Quarterback talk dominates the 2020 Draft

The chatter about the Dolphins trading all the way up to the #1 spot to draft Joe Burrow has been a storyline of late. However, just yesterday there were some leaks that Flores and Grier are not looking to trade away the farm for one player. Also, the Bengals Head Coach Zac Taylor also said he didn’t see them trading their pick.

The ‘Jimmy Bourbon pick’ for 1st Overall Pick is what everyone is expecting: Bengals select QB Joe Burrow.

Despite talk that the Washington Redskins at the #2 pick would be interested in drafting Tua, this was likely all about drumming up trade interest. The buck stops at Daniel Snyder and he is a huge fan of Dwayne Haskins. I can’t see the Redskins selecting another 1st Round QB a year after selecting Haskins with a generational DE prospect in Chase Young available.

The ‘Jimmy Bourbon pick’ for 2nd Overall Pick: The Redskins sit tight and select Chase Young.

It gets a bit murkier starting with the 3rd Pick

The real chance for a trade-up seems to be at the 3rd spot where the Lions will be on the clock. Considering that they have Matthew Stafford with H.C. Matt Patricia on the hot seat, Lions are in win-now mode. It doesn’t make sense for them to select a quarterback. The next logical option is for Detroit to trade the pick. With the Phins selecting one spot before the Chargers, either team could trade up if they feel the other will move ahead of them and take ‘their QB’.

However, recent news suggests the Chargers would be fine with either Tua or Herbert. In addition, the Lions just traded away one of the best CB’s in the league in Darius Slay to the Eagles. Since they have a gaping hole in the secondary with Jeff Okudah available as the consensus best CB in the draft…

The ‘Jimmy Bourbon pick’ for 3rd Overall Pick: Lion will go with the sure pick in Okudah.

What the Giants do with the 4th pick with have a giant impact on the Phins

The Giants have also said they are ‘open for business’ in terms of trading out of the 4th spot. Once again, it will come down to how desperate the Chargers want a QB. Will they trade valuable draft assets to move up?  The problem is the Chargers don’t have anywhere near the draft assets as Miami. So, they won’t make a move and instead just let the draft unfold.

The Giants will have the luxury of having multiple top prospects still available. They are in a great position and will either go with defensive swiss army knife Isaiah Simmons or the top-rated Offensive Tackle in Tristan Wirfs. Since the Giants have invested heavily in their franchise QB Daniel Jones, why not select the best Tackle in the draft so they can protect that franchise QB?

The ‘Jimmy Bourbon pick’ for 4th Overall Pick: My gut tells me the Giants go with Wirfs.

The Phins 5th pick will be a foundational piece for this regime

Now in this scenario, Isaiah Simmons would still be on the board, along with Tua and Herbert. Simmons is the best player of the bunch and would be ready to start Day 1. While he would be a major contributor on Defense, and we know Coach Flores has a soft spot for multi-purpose defenders, Miami could be more afraid of another ‘Drew Brees’ by passing up on a Tua. Ross and the Phins have been linked to Tua for over a year. I see it as just too much pressure for Miami not to select Tua at #5. As a result, I believe Miami will roll the dice on Tua’s injuries and give him the redshirt rookie year similar to what transpired with Mahomes in Kansas City.

Sooo…

The ‘Jimmy Bourbon pick’ for the 5th Overall Pick: Miami does the expected and drafts Tua.

Yeah, not very revolutionary, but the most likely scenario… or thereabouts

This isn’t much of a curveball, but I’m trying to be honest and not shocking. I guess anything is possible… so we’ll see soon enough! What are the rest of the Miami Dolphins News fans’ thoughts about how the first 5 selections of the NFL Draft will unfold?
