Key Injury Updates
The Dolphins will officially be starting their training camp this week, and besides getting guys to play on the same page as a team, and improving themselves, the players will want to try to stay as healthy as they possibly can. Each year during training camp football gambling fans see a few key players around the league suffer season ending injuries, and other small injuries that become season long nagging injuries. It is very important to get players ready for the regular season, but also keep them healthy.
There are already three key players for the Dolphins that are battling injuries and will be worth watching how quickly they get back into the starting lineup. It will also be worth watching to see how fast or slow the coaching staff works these players into practicing and the pre-season games. Those three players are Left Tackle Branden Albert, Wide Receiver DeVante Parker, and Kicker Caleb Sturgis.
Of these three players most football gambling fans would agree that Albert is the most important. Not only does he play one of the most important positions in football, which is protecting the blindside of the Dolphins $96 million dollar QB investment, Ryan Tannehill, but he is the heart of the Phins offensive line unit. Not only that but of the three players he seems to be the least likely to be ready for the opening game. He still has a noticeable limp from his torn ACL and MCL injury last season. Lastly the Dolphins offensive line is already their weakest link on the team, and if Albert is not healthy they are going to be in serious trouble protecting Tannehill, and creating running lanes for the running backs. I would say it is very important not to rush Albert back into the lineup, and it would be better if he had to miss a few games in the beginning of the season, instead of having a setback in pre-season or the first month of the season.
The next player on this list would be Caleb Sturgis, but the good news is he seems to be on schedule to return either at or near the start of training camp. He suffered a left quad injury playing in a team organized kickball game. Sturgis has been a mediocre kicker for the Dolphins in his first two seasons with the Dolphins, but unfortunately at the moment he is the only kicker on the roster worthy enough to start. Even though Sturgis should be healthy for training camp and this season, it would still be wise for the Dolphins to look around the league for a veteran kicker, that can challenge Sturgis for the starting job. Kickers can win or lose football games for a team, so it is important to have a decent kicker.
Lastly DeVante Parker is recovering from a corrective foot surgery that he had in early June. Parker was very impressive in his limited time during OTA’s, but he is still only a rookie, so this injury is going to slow his progress to a degree. One good thing is that many scouts and analysts around the league felt that Parker was the most NFL ready of any of the wide receivers in the 2015 draft. Luckily for the Dolphins their wide receiver unit is probably one of their deepest units on the team, so even if Parker is not ready right away, they have plenty of other players that can step in and play at a high level. Parker should also be eased back into practices and the lineup, and made sure that he is 100% healthy before he steps onto the field for a live game. He has a chance to be very special for a very long time, so no need to rush him back either. Who are the rest of the Miami Dolphins News fans most concerned about in terms of getting back into the starting lineup?
