Lamm’s ‘Misquote’ but Issues Were Accurate!
Lamm didn’t say it, but what he said was a truth about last year’s team
Former Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Kendall Lamm was recently reported negative comment on the team’s culture was ‘fake news’. The essence of the report was the Eagles reached two Super Bowls in three years because players were never late, never toxic, and after every practice, spent time discussing personal struggles to stay mentally sharp—something he felt was lacking with the Dolphins. This though, Lamm has stated, he never said. And that’s important to be clear about…
… just as it’s important to understand that the essence of this misquote is accurate.
Let’s dial it in:
Lamm Didn’t Say It, but the Essence Was True
Did Lamm say it or not? The exact source of this quote remains unverified. Despite claims that Lamm told ESPN, no article or interview confirming this has been found on ESPN’s platforms. This discrepancy raises questions about the authenticity of the statement. So, we need to take Lamm’s word on it until evidence comes out… no matter how accurate this ‘fictitious’ quote represents the Phins culture last season.
Despite not being a real quote from Lamm, the sentiment certainly echoes concerns previously expressed by other former Dolphins players. There is the long list of players we already know have put their names to it, and we have our own eyes and the results, so there was a culture issue.
Now, the biggest question is do we still have this issue?
We were told it was fixed in the past… and it was a lie
The uglies note in all of it was Bradley Chubb admitting that the team’s claimed culture change in 2024 was disingenuous, stating, “We put our toe in the water, but we didn’t dive all the way in.” In essence, he said we knew it wasn’t true put told fans it was.
A lie.
In response to these criticisms, head coach Mike McDaniel has emphasized the importance of accountability and professionalism, aiming to foster a more cohesive and disciplined team environment in 2025.
The problem here is how do we know if this ‘new’ culture isn’t a mirage as well?
We won’t know until we see it for ourselves.
Clearly these basic fundamental concepts of being on time, working hard, real team chemistry should have been installed and resolved by the end of Head Coach Mike McDaniel’s first season. Certainly, if you want to be liberal, by the end of Year 2. The fact that they weren’t by Year 3 and we are talking about it in Year 4 is a major concern.
But it’s a concern that can be fixed.
Will it?
I don’t know. It will take hard times to see if it is or isn’t. But you can bet with the best pay per head that it certainly will play a major role in how we do this season… and maybe if McDaniel continues as the Phins Head Coach. Go Phins!!!.
