Let’s get Defensive

football gambling

The Dolphins have won their last two games on the road, and the biggest reason behind this is the Defense. The Defense has caused 6 turnovers, 7 sacks, scored 14 points and have only allowed 13.5 points per game. If the Dolphins want to make a run for a playoff spot this is a good place to start. Offense wins games, but defense wins championships, just look at why the Seattle Seahawks are the reigning Super Bowl Champions.

It is only two solid games, and the opponents have not been top notch teams, however the defense is clearly starting to play better. For whatever reason, the NFL ranks the top defense as the team that allows the least total yards, which has Miami ranked 5th in. But most football gambling fans would agree that the true sign of a top defense is one that is allowing the least points, and creating the most turnovers. In allowed points per game the Dolphins are currently ranked 11th allowing 21.6 points per game, and that is an improved number because of their last two games. In the takeaway department the Dolphins are currently ranked 5th with 14 caused turnovers, and again 6 of those have come in the last 2 games.

I believe that the Defense seems to be finding their groove and if they can continue to ride this momentum, then the Dolphins’ defense has the potential to be one of the top defenses in the league. The biggest thing they need to improve on, which they have been able to do in the last two games, is that they need to continue to keep their opponent off the score board.

The Dolphins defense will get another chance this upcoming weekend to prove they can be elite, because they will be facing a top shelf QB in Philip Rivers, and a Chargers team that is averaging 25.6 points per game. Coyle and the defense know the recipe and currently have the right ingredients, which is a disruptive pass rush and lots of turnovers, to beat a high scoring offense, but can they continue to cook up a winning result? Do phin fans believe that the Dolphins defense has turned a corner and will can continue to exhibit signs of being an elite defense or is this just a mirage created by playing against mediocre teams?
