Losing faith in Coaching Staff

football gambling

One of our loyal readers recently made a very good point, that the Dolphins have a whole lot more talent than they have had in many years, but the team is still playing sloppy losing football. The players are the ones that need to make the catches, the throws and the tackles, however the coaching staff needs to be able to put the players into the best possible position to do this. So as bad as the players have been playing, there is a lot of blame that needs to be placed on this coaching staff.

I have actually always been a fan of Philbin, but frankly I’m starting to get sick of his head-scratching game management, and generic bull shit answers to the media of why the team is not playing up to expectations. A lot of the problems this season, boil down to not being able to perform the basics correctly in terms of playing football. To me; tackling, catching and throwing is done by the players but needs the coaching staff to push and demand the players to do it properly. These are very fixable and minor issues that can and need to be fixed by the coaching staff. The coaching staff needs to get back to basics in all facets of the game.

The offense coming into the season was supposed to have an up-tempo fast paced high octane attack, however Lazor rarely has Tannehill execute a hurry up offense, and they have struggled to get their weapons involved in the game. Charles Clay, Brian Hartline, Brandon Gibson, Rishard Matthews, and Jarvis Landry have rarely been used or targeted. Lazor needs to figure out a way to start getting some of his play makers the ball. Clay who was ranked as one of the top 100 players in the league by his peers has 12 catches in 3 games, that is not a good way to use your tight end, which is confusing since Lazor’s offense was supposed to rely heavily on using it’s tight ends.

The Dolphins strength on offense was supposed to be its receivers, instead they have done nothing this season, and have actually been out-shined by the running game, which has looked solid in 2 out of the 3 games. The coaching staff needs to find a way to get their receivers involved in the game and to give them opportunities to make plays. In years past we as phins fans have complained that we had no talent at the wide receiver position, now we finally do, and it seems like the coaching staff is clueless on how to use it.

On defense they are still having problems covering running backs and tight ends out of the back field and tackling the ball carrier. Any sports betting software like Ace Per Head fan that has watched the Dolphins over the past few years will notice that this has been a consistent problem. It is the coaching staff’s job to identify these types of recurring issues, and figure out a way to fix the it. When a player makes a mistake, then I would put that on the player, but if players are constantly making the same mistakes then I would put that on the coaching staff. This defense and entire team is making the same mistakes each year and each week, so the problem now needs to fall on the coaches.

Phiblin has not been terrible, but he has proved that he is exactly what we thought he would be; a first time head coach that is not ready for all the responsibilities of being a head coach. If the Phins continue playing as bad as they have, then Philbin is all but guaranteed to be fired, and if that is the case it may be wise for the Dolphins to stop hiring first year head coaches, and look to hire someone with multiple years experience as a head coach in the NFL.
