McDaniel is Locked in as Phins Leader ’till 2028!!!
Dolphins Head Coach Mike McDaniel is now the Phins leader until 2028
If the road ahead was uncertain to some, it’s now crystal clear with Mike McDaniel singing an extension that has him the Miami Dolphins head Coach until 2028! On the heels of two playoff appearances and Tua’s extension, this was the next logical step. While I wouldn’t have minded if we waited to offer the extension after seeing how McDaniel and the team performed this season, I’m happy all the talk will be about what the team will do on the field for the next few years. But, even though this move makes complete sense, there are no guarantees that it will be viewed as the right move down the road.
This is why Miami must notch a postseason win this year to get the monkey off their back. It would make for an amazing offseason, giving Phins fans a hope-filled, drama-free offseason.
McDaniel gets the 1st legit HC extension in decades!
While I know we need to win a postseason game or two, I’ve enjoyed the high-powered offense and two postseason appearances. Yes, I want more, but at least we’ll have some continuity on the staff! I wonder if we’ll ever see this continuity on defense because if we win big this year, Weaver could easily be the hot name for an HC job in the offseason. I don’t want to get too greedy, at least the Head Coach and offense are now settled.
Tony Sparano was the last Phins HC to get extended well over a decade ago, but that was an ‘I’m sorry’ from Ross for pursuing Harbaugh behind his back more than legit confidence. It doesn’t take the best football software to know that there wasn’t any real weight there. This move has the full confidence and backing of the Dolphins brass. McDaniel is locked up until 2028 by this new extension and the earliest it could end if things go wildly bad is 2027. But let’s not think about that, let’s breathe a sigh of relief that we have at least three cohesive years ahead of us. The good news is Tua has his coach and Grier has his main pieces to build around. This doesn’t mean they’ll ace the test, but they say having a bad plan is better than having no plan at all. And Miami has incredibly done the impossible over the last couple of decades: have the worst no plan possible. So, the bottom line is at the very least we have a plan and are staying the course.
I’m glad we finally have a committed direction, let’s hope this season confirms it was the right one!
What do the rest of the Dolphins news fans think about Mike McDaniel’s extension?
Jimmy/MJ,
Great job as always guys! Really good news! However, still disappointed that we have not signed another quality veteran WR, OL, and even DL player. Your thoughts guys! Thank you!
Thanks, brother… sorry for the late reply. Jimmy and I are working on getting back to consistency coverage, brother… getting there starting today. Hope all is well and you enjoyed the comeback win… concerns for sure, but winning buys time!! Big Thurs game this week.
