Miami Dolphins’ Master Plan for this Offseason

The NFL’s 2015 free-agency is up and running and the Miami dolphins news world is spinning at a sprinter’s pace and has many fans are excited by the frantic player and team activity. The Dolphins landed arguably the biggest free agent on the market, in Ndamukong Suh and there actually appears to be a clear and concise plan in place for this organization for a change.

All you Miami dolphins news and pay per head reviews gurus out there knew that their biggest weakness coming into this off-season was their run defense, so Tannenbaum and Hickey made that priority number one and signed the best defensive tackle in the game. Before offering Suh his record-breaking contract Miami needed to clear cap space so they went and released a lot of expensive veteran players that they felt were not worth their contract. In this regard, I feel like Miami did a terrific job cutting the dead weight on this team. They released Brandon Gibson, Brian Hartline, Philip Wheeler, Randy Starks, Nate Garner, Shelley Smith, and Cortland Finnegan. Each of these players was getting paid way too much money compared to their last season’s production, and I truly believe none of these players will be missed. In addition, we also lost Odrick, but clearly Suh is a major upgrade, and there is a chance that we may lose Jimmy Wilson and Charles Clay. In regards to Wilson, we signed Brice McCain, who is a comparable replacement for Wilson, but losing Clay would be the only big downgrade for the team, but we have already plugged that hole with Cameron. Lastly, the Dolphins worked out a pay cut with Punter Brandon Fields, which was a lucky move that Fields was willing to agree to, and they re-signed Kelvin Sheppard, Michael Thomas, and put a second-round tender on Derrick Shelby.

The organization has identified the team’s weaknesses and has a plan for addressing each one, this is not the kind of Miami dolphins news we are used to. Last year they were very thin at cornerback at the end of the season, so they signed Brice McCain, and they are expected to sign another veteran cornerback in free agency. Another position that they are most likely going to focus on in free agency is Safety; they like Delmas, but he is not going to be healthy in time to start next season.

They are also looking to see if they can upgrade the Linebacker and Guard position in free-agency, but insiders are telling me that if they can not find these positions in free agency, then they have no problem looking to the draft for these two positions. Lastly, the signing of Suh has actually increased the chances that Miami will keep Wallace for another season, which means the Dolphins are not going to be a big buyer in the wide receiver free-agent market. This is also because they feel very strongly about this upcoming wide receiver talent pool that is entering the draft. There is a very strong possibility that Miami uses two of their draft picks on wide receivers. They also believe that this is a deep draft for running backs, so they will most likely draft a running back in the middle rounds to pair with Miller.

Anyone following Miami dolphins news in recent history has suffered through 5 years of head-scratching moves by Jeff Ireland, so now it is nice to see that Tannenbaum and Hickey know how to correctly identify our needs and have a plan in place to fill those needs. Even though Jeff Ireland has been disassociated with the team for 2 years, this organization is still cleaning up his mess, as proof from the team’s recent cuts.

Does the rest of Miami Dolphins news fans believe that Tannenbaum and Hickey have a solid plan in place to get this team into the playoffs?
