Miami Groundhog Day

again

The Miami Dolphins loss yesterday to the Dallas Cowboys downgraded their miniscule chance to make the playoffs into an infinitesimal one. The defense came to play big early, but offensive mistakes sent the game into a nosedive and ultimately doomed any chance to salvage the game with a victory. What does the loss say about Miami Dolphins other than, “We suck”?!

The “Pick Six” is the fourth straight week that Tannehill has given the opposing team points and this time it may have cost more than just the game. This time Tannehill’s mistake may have just begin the “rebuild” mode…and with it, cost ALOT of people their jobs. This is not to say Tannehill didn’t have his moments, he did – as do the Dolphins nearly every loss. Tannehill’s pass to Landry and Stills were very good throws and teased of a comeback, but there wasn’t enough of them to overcome the adversity. This uneven nature of his has brought his career to the point where his future a tenuous one.

Productive QB’s are very difficult to come by and I am not saying dump him because there isn’t anyone and even with his mistakes, he resides in the bottom third o the league’s starting QB’s. But, the goal for a franchise is getting to the postseason and ultimately the championship and at this point of his career Tannehill, through his play, doesn’t appear good enough for even the best sportsbooks in the world to bet on him achieving those goals. Can he develop? Yes, Tanny could develop into a winning QB, but would a new regime be willing to invest their future in his play?

Again, we ended the day with few runs as we abandoned them early after so much success early. Again, 3rd and longs meant throwing short of the sticks. Again, special teams mistakes pinned us to our own goal. And again, coaching mistakes both in play calls and situational decisions aided in the defeat. But, the most crucial “again” was that Tanny couldn’t surround his mistakes with enough plays to pull out a win that was in desperate need…and that again may be the one that has the  largest impact.
