At only 27 Brown has a few prime years ahead of him
The Miami Dolphins have taken a real methodical approach to free agency this year. They have not rushed into anything and have taken their time by first securing their own players, and then have looked around the rest of the league through free agency and trades to acquire other players at positions of need.
Fins have brought in Poe and Sheard, but let the walk do to too step a asking price.
Now in the third week of free agency, it appears they are still doing their due diligence to add a few more key pieces before the Draft approaches. One of those pieces could be Buffalo Bills Linebacker Zach Brown.
At only 27 years old, he has been in the league for just 5 years. He started out with the Tennessee Titans for his first 4 seasons in the league. He played well in Tennessee amassing 261 tackles, 10 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries and 6 interceptions in 3 seasons (In 2014 he did not play due to an injury). However, last year he went to the Bills and really exploded in the tackling department with 149 tackles last season, 4 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 1 interception. Brown is also the type of guy that can play any linebacking position on the field, and has the ability to make impact plays, which is evident from his above statistics.
Brown would fill the SAM LB spot, which is a big hole on the team
Not really sure what type of money Brown is looking for. or what type of money Miami thinks he is worth… but I do know that if Miami were to add Brown, then they would all of sudden have a legitimate stud linebacking unit with Alonso, Timmons and Brown. This would also mean that Miami would most likely cut Koa Misi, or at the very least make him take a pay cut if he wants to stay in Miami. I would love to sign Zach Brown, and most free bookie software fans would agree that if we added him, then all of sudden one of our weakest position groups on the team would now be one of our strongest groups.
Lastly, adding a player like Brown at a position of need would also cement home the fact that Miami will be preparing themselves to draft the best player available, because they filled in most of their most glaring needs this off season. It will be interesting to see what type of money Brown is looking for and whether or not Miami is on the same page.
Honestly, I wanted Brown more than Timmons. If they can somehow pull this off–although, it’s not likely due to the size of the contract he’ll likely command. But if they can, can you say Touchdown! Go Fins!!!
