Miami’s Last Era Of Greatness
Last year it hit me that it had been 15 years since I last saw Dan Marino sling the ball and lead Miami to a win. Growing up and watching Dan lead the Dolphins was very personal and deeply connecting because of my age when his career began. I made this video as a tribute to him and the memories he and the Miami Dolphins have etched forever in my brain.
I post this video again, not to demean our current era or even our current QB, but to help those who missed his career and those who were there for it, to remember what a great franchise we were…and will be again – eventually. I hope you enjoy.

He was great
Absolutely the best all time QB
We knew we would score lots of points
The question was always will our offense score more than theirs
If we would have had a good defense we would have been Super Bowl bound every year they very seldom could stop us tom scoring
One man made the difference “Dan”
Glad I was able to at home him play
The good ole days. Marino was the QB that first beat Cover 2 zone. He could zing passes in the CB-S gap. Shula marveled at this during practices. Teams got tired of getting burned so then they began to blitz him and play man coverage.
Teams likewise got burned in man coverage with Duper, Clayton, Nat Moore, Tony Nathan…nobody could cover those guys in man.
Teams faced a real dilemna playing the Dolphins.
This is what I’ll remember made Marino the greatest, he was the first QB that demonstrated he could beat Cover 2 zone with his arm.
Exactly – the delivery was near instant and would arrive like a laser, he saw the whole field and as WR would enter the transition zones (seams) tween defenders, Marino would fire -Safety wouldnt have a chance at helping. Best pure passer at QB ever and also one of the toughest.
Gosh, that used to feel so good, knowing whoever they played however good we were or weren’t we ALWAYS had a chance to win regardless because we had #13 under center.
Now,,,, we have a chance to lose because who we have under/behind center!!! When will we be relevant again???
he was a very rare breed of player…both in heart and skill
