Obsessed with Winning

(Note from the editor: As a reminder to fans, there is no reason to get mad about this, let’s let the investigation unfold and let the NFL take care of this problem that has befallen them.)  And on to Jimmy’s opinion:

If you want to be the best at a certain sport there usually is a bunch of things you need to do such as train and practice extremely hard, study one’s opponent, have mental toughness, keep one’s body in top physical form, and have an obsessive desire to win. Two of the best athletes to ever play their respective sports epitomized all of these traits to an unfathomable degree; Michael Jordan and Tom Brady. However, sometimes the obsessive desire to win can make a person do crazy things, which leads us to the pending predicament that Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots now find themselves in.

Unless you have been living under a rock, every Free Bookie Software fan and their mother has heard about the latest cheating scandal by the New England Patriots. We may never know who actually deflated the balls or who authorized it, but we do know that it was done, and now the NFL needs to decide how they are going to handle this new blemish on the NFL’s integrity.

My opinion is that Tom Brady clearly knew that the balls were deflated. He has openly stated that he likes his balls a certain way, and that is at the lowest spectrum of the leagues minimum of 12.5 PSI. It obviously makes sense because when the ball is softer it becomes easier to grip for throwing, catching, and handling the ball, especially when it is cold, raining, or snowing. It has also been highly documented that Brady is one of the most competitive players to ever play the game, and at the end of the day, all he cares about is winning. So based on his preference for how he likes his footballs, and based on his competitive nature of doing whatever it takes to win, this scandal has a lot of weight in being legitimate.

Yes, Brady is one of the best QB’s to ever play the game but let’s not forget that he has not won a Super Bowl since 2005, which is a decade ago, and in sports that are like dog years. In addition, in his last two Super Bowl trips his team was the odds on favorite to win but still lost both times to the New York Giants. Lets also not forget that Brady is no spring chicken either, and his football days are quickly fading with each new season. So why wouldn’t an aging superstar, who is looking for another chance to be crowned the champ, and who is obsessed with winning not cross the line, and try to give himself and his team an extra advantage?

Brady handles the ball on every offensive play of the game for the Patriots, so to hear him in his press conference said he did not notice anything wrong with the balls just seems ludicrous. The NFL may not be able to prove that Brady or Bellichick had a hand in deflating 11 of the 12 footballs, but the bottom line is the Patriots organization tampered with the balls, which means they blatantly broke the rules, so now the NFL must show some backbone and set forth a proper punishment. The obvious issue is that next week is not some ordinary regular-season game, so either the NFL is going to lay down the hammer and suspend Brady and/or Bellichick or they are going to shirk from their immediate responsibility to the fans and wait until after the Super Bowl to reveal their judgment, either decision is going to have dire consequences.

This is not the first time that a Patriots led the team by Bellichick and Brady was involved in a scandal involving breaking the rules set by the NFL, and who knows what other small rules that the Patriots have broken over this century. The old saying goes “once a cheater, always a cheater,” and if the NFL does not finally do something to make an example on these repeat offenders, then why should the fans have faith in the league and the integrity of the game? My vote is to suspend Brady and Bellichick for at least the Super Bowl, and even next season. I would also strongly consider banishing them from the game, the same way Pete Rose was banished from baseball. That would send shock waves throughout the NFL and show that the NFL is not willing to compromise the integrity of the game for anyone, not even for Hall of Fame-caliber quarterbacks and coaches.

This is without doubt the dumbest move I believe I’ve heard or read!! Why would Brady tarnish himself with something that doesn’t give him an edge throwing the ball?? Quite frankly the whole thing is ludicrous!!! I do get that it’s cheating and they should pay the ultimate price which would be for Brady and Belichik to actually have to be suspended for one of the biggest games of there careers together.

I’m a lifetime Giants fan so when they beat the Patriots I enjoyed it immensely but I’m also a fan of the NFL & if nothing is done it will leave a (my opinion) effect thru thru whole league.Since the NFL destroyed the tapes involving taping practices we will never know what was on it but this is a whole new level because I believe EVERYBODY knew about the balls, yes the QB handles the ball but the person who handles it more is the center & that’s EVERY snap,so u mean to tell me he didn’t notice it? It flies in the face of logic & it borders on insulting that they believe we believe they didn’t know.
In the wake of all the abuse scandals that plagued the NFL last year Goodel was under a whole lot of public pressure to clean up the mess because it brought shame to the shield but this to me is worse,if PED is band for giving players an unfair advantage what is deflated balls, giving a team an unfair advantage and that tarnished the game I love.
Will I now watch the Superbowl? I honestly don’t know do I watch so I can see Tom Brady lose & if he wins would he become the cheater that won thereby ruining the game the only person that can answer that is Roger Godell

Don’t forget the ref who handles the ball to spot it before each play. How did he not feel the difference, he touches it more then anyone and for a longer amount of time

Whilst I think suspending them from the game, as mentioned in the article (which I’m assuming means permanently) is a tad too harsh they (Brady and Bellicheck)should at least be suspended from the SB and all of the 2015 season. If you watch any of the interviews with players where the ball tampering is mentioned they all tow the party line and come out with “I have nothing to say about that” or “I don’t know anything about that”. Well sorry but that’s BS…look at their faces, they’re almost smirking whilst saying it. The Patriots organisation is rotten to the core, they want to win at any cost and don’t care how they do it. To them cheating is simply part of their way of playing the sport. They may well win another SB on the back of this but let me say this….. Look at the Dolphins SB win and the Patriots wins…..both should have an asterisk next to them. Difference is ours say “undefeated”…..the Patriots will say “under suspicion”. Be it taping the opposition or deflating balls they are just cheating scum.

it was brady. he ordered the balls deflated. and bellicheat knew it. he’s the coach. like sean peyton ignorance is no excuse. they should be suspended for the super bowl and next year. and heavy fines to both and kraft. if not then we know the NFL is in league with them.
