The Phins “starters” on O-line returned from yesterday… Will they be starters Week 1?
The Phins O-line shuffle ended Day 7… for the most part. Dave DeGuglielmo and Brian Flores have ‘found’ what they are looking for with their starting Offensive Line. The ‘starting’ line up of LT Tunsil, LG Deiter, C Kilgore, RG Calhoun, and RT Davis was only briefly interrupted with Sterup at LT.
This is who they are running with folks… for now at least.
Phinsnews likes the lineup for it’s potential and predicted Calhoun as the RG a few months ago.
Davis has struggled a bit moving over to Right Tackle and Calhoun has been beaten by Wilkens. Natural. After a few days of practice and the scrimmage, we’ll get a better idea if they are really the answer or not. But it won’t be until Week 1 that we’ll have a true indication.
So stay tuned and throw a prayer in that the pay per head sites will eat their predictions.
However, the situation goes, this is the right move for the Phins and their direction. Miami needs to find quality long term starters and only fallback on ‘stopgaps’ if there’s no other choice. This is likely the reason for Flaherty being replaced. He had the script flipped. Reed or a vet found prior to the Regular Season can always replace Calhoun for a ‘steady Eddie’, in the worst case.
Right now this staff needs to shine up some rocks to find out if they are gold or coal.
Day 7 Training Camp reports:

The Dave DeGuglielmo replacement has paid off in one regard… the young ones are getting slapped to see if they bite back. This is an absolute must for this 2019 team. Let’s hope these pups have more pitbull than Labadore in them. Go Phins!!!
